Did any of you think that maybe laurie invited him to your training session to maybe try and persuade him to join you guys? He obviously didn't like it so decided to join us instead. LOL no mate, the truth is what I posted, he didnt think he would get a start at the Mariners and thought his chances with Newcastle were greater! Holland trained with us because he intended to sign, once he spoke to Lawrie about his options Lawrie basically said do whatever you want.........so there was no attempt to try and persuade him to sign. Ahh ok fair enough, but if he did go to you guys im not sure he would be getting much game time at all. The guy playing in front of him is tom pondeljak and even though he is aging is an asset to the mariners for his experience. Holland might be a better player then Pondeljak but experience goes a long way to winning football games. However at Newcastle we desperately need an attacking midfielder to link our forwards and midfield so James is basically guaranteed a starting spot and will show the league what he can do. Remember this guy probably has olyroo ambitions for next year and he has a much better chance of achieving that if he is playing regulary then on the bench.

Holland won't make the Olyroos IMO, he only really has the rest of this year to make an impact. Players like Nick Ward would get the nod ahead of him.

Exactly the odds are very much against him. Therefore sitting on the bench for central coast will be no help whatsoever. Like you said he only has the rest of the season to make an impact and will be guaranteed a start at Newcastle.

If Fergie likes him as much as he does Milligan he'll get smashed on 12th Jan.
He won't make Olyroos even with game time this season, but stranger things have happened I guess.

It's technically the best career move for him... No doubt he'll play (and play a lot) for the Jets and really would've been pushing it a bit uphill at CCM.
That's not really the issue though. The issue is the backhanded shennanigans of agreeing a deal and then renegging on it in such a fashion.

he is a massive dick-------advocaat in disguise (meh spelling) great idea for a banner Luckily the little twerp doesn't play for Qld., or we'd have to send the banner to Suncorp a week before and have attached a Stat Dec. declaring we wouldn't hold it up for any longer than 30 seconds at a time!
