Its not just the Ultra banner, its the attitude of a few that can destroy a whole unfortunatly.... And being spat on and hasseled, almost physically in some cases really doesn't give a supporter group a good name... ahhhh so you have been to a melbourne game at the telstra dome. We actually needed a police escort from the ground and yet Victory supporters still followed us. I'm not sure what you experience in newcastle. But im pretty sure it would happen anywhere. In fact i was verbally abused (swearing etc.) by a mariner fan (roughly 40) while still holding his sons hand (the boy could not have been much more then 6 yrs old). I was quite amazed. I'm not at all condoning any abuse, however i resent that fact it is only Newcaslte fans doing it.

To be fair to the squadron some of those things come from those around the away bay rather than them. Still doesn't reflect to well on Newcastle fans as a whole though. That is the case as well. it is often not the CORE group, just random idiots who cause trouble

Yes, walking through and being hit with toy trucks and having little army men thrown at you, sounds like a death wish to me I'm not sure what that is in reference to? i'm assuming it is because we are reasonably young..... if so im not sure why being young is a bad thing. And Dru made it sound scary to walk through your bay, but lets face it, you dont exactly instill fear in most people.

Quite simply I hate the jets and I hate SFC, I hate any team that lines up against the mariners for the 90 minutes they are on the pitch, then they go back to being human beings and how I treat them is determined by their actions against everyone not just the Mariners. Fans are fans of their team, and while I don't agree with their choice they have a right to it, but that choice doesn't make them a d@#k or not, it's their actions that do. I agree. I don't care what team anyone follows, I'll shake their hand, have a chat, have a beer, give my time to anyone that wants to approach me before or after the game, whatever, but for that 90 mins I'll yell scream and chant for my chosen team like a lunatic, but stiil stay in control, won't lose the plot or do anything that could hurt someone. Everyone has the right to support who they want and attend games without being physically abused or threatened. Every team has their idiots, not just our blokes, and stereotyping the group as a whole is not fair on those of us who do the right thing and try and pull these idiots into line. Dru, you sound like the sort of person that judges individuals not groups, and for this I applaud you.

Timmy - what he say in the media is 1 thing.......what he really thinks is another! I'm not 100% convinced that he will succeed in the HAL in the way that he should, but there is no doubt he has/had the talent once and it's a gamble worth taking. I can't believe you said he's the best striker in the world atm thou lol, Jardel or Rooney? Jardel or Henry? Jardel or Messi? lol tough choices! Andy - Newcastle fans seem to think that us and the Cove are bum chums........very strange I know but if it makes them happy let them be I guess? All came about because a small group of Marinators went and cheered anti Newcastle chants when they played Sydney................. Its not just Newcastle fans at all. Talk to the more passinate supportters from Melbourne Adelaide and qld and theyll all tell you the same thing. ANd after reading the latest 442, just makes it worse with the cove and marinators respect comment. im not having a dig, but why would you want respect with Sydney? They are our rivals, for both of us. We should hate them with a passion, But in saying that, hate towards any other australian football support can only go so far. They do support that game that you love. I think its an incredibly stupid and hypocritical point, that we're "Bum-buddies" with the Cove because some of the Marinators attended the Sydney-Newcastle game, and cheered for Sydney. I choose the word hypocritical because you have done the same thing with our home games against the Knights, and now by the looks of it, some are planning to go again. You and the Kiwis must be bum chums now!

As I said, unfortunatly its a few who can poison a whole, its unfair but is true, Admittedly I haven't been to a Mel game, but have not had any problems with Mel fans who have travelled to Bluetounge stadium. On the other hand, I have been to numerous Newcastle home games and seen kids as little as 5yrs old be abused as they went to the bathroom just because they were wearing Mariners jersy's, and I understand that they may not be part of the squadron, but every time I've been to watch a Jets home game I had a bad experiance, every other away game, have not had a problem.

You and the Kiwis must be bum chums now! I guess it can be construed as that. I think from the response on our forum it is only me going to the CC v Wellington game There was good reason last year to cheer NZ on, we needed you guys to lose to make the top 4. The reason i enjoyed it also last season watching that game, was due to 2 x mel fans 1 x perth fan 4/5 x syd fans 1 x Adel fan 10 x Jets fans all cheering NZ.
