Early days but let's look at the performances of some of the Brazlians:
Juninho - on massive wages and showed his class but spurned three good chances because of his reluctance to shoot Marcinho - average Daniel - great signing despite the missed penalty - a goal and a assist Cleberson - strong game but gave away the Melbourne penalty Denni - dud Drovandi (or is he argentinian?) - slow as a wet week Cassio - best of the bunch so far
The rest didn't really feature that much.
Only round one but they have set the league on fire have they? When you look at their combined incomes you can start to see what Lawrie is on about in regards to their value for money.

I loved Lawrie's quote about the Brazilians on Friday night.
"Why go to Brazil when we've got Terrigal, Avoca and Kincumber?"
Ashame Simon Hill couldn't pronounce Avoca correctly.

Early days but let's look at the performances of some of the Brazlians: Denni - dud agreed- he was utter shit! hopefully (for the league) he improves but would be amusing to see newcastle stuck with a useless wage taker

Tiatto was garbage as well although he did provide a great assist for Matt Simon the other week

Juninho - Garbage. Rubbish. Over-rated trash. They paid one million dollars for that?? (and I'm sick of hearing Fox Sports and SBS jack off over him - he contributed nothing to the game, and was wildly disruptive to Corica, who looked the better play all night)
Marcinho - meh.
Daniel - serious14's Brazilian of the round, a joy to watch. Netting the penalty would have made it that much sweeter.
Cleberson - Got strength?? He does. Gotta love a toughened up South American who doesn't leap all over the place
Denni - AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAAHA!!!!
The rest didn't rate at all for me.

Would have to agree with that. Juninho will only get better. Drovandi was lazy and didn't look interested. Talking about another Brazlian, I've also heard that the Newcastle players don't rate Jardel at all......and the only way he's gonna get game time is if the instruction to play him comes from upstairs as GVE is not impressed at the moment. Still a good month away from being selected too based on fitness level. Time will tell.........

I'm not sure if it has been mentioned on here or not, but just after the announcement of Jardel, I read that Van Egmond didn't even want him at the club and the decision was 100% made by Con and Remo.

His nickname is "the bullet", seriously. They must be blanks. On Jest site they claim he must be injured because they didn't see the speed they heard about. In denial? He quoted that it was %100 Con's decision & he had zero invlovement.

Round 1 is a touch too soon to draw judgement on performances isn't it? definitely - you can't judge a player on 1 performance.......but it wasn't a very good start. IMO too many South Americans in your team is a huge risk, Jets will either be like last year and all of a sudden click and then everyone will have to watch out.....or they will be rubbish most the season and their imports will 1 by 1 head home.

I thought the penalty against wellington was harsh (not just saying this because Cleberson is in my Fantasy squad - or was) I think Melbourne kicked the ball into his hand (which is something they have done before, in fact against NZ) which really shouldn't be given, but the joy of football is that part in the law that says "...if in the referee's opinion..."

From today's Football Fever:
All is not well up in Newcastle, and we don't mean the Knights. Despite public displays of support, we hear the coaching staff had little to do with the signing or Mario Jardel and aren't overly enamoured with having to fit him in the team. "He can hardly move," one insider reports of a striker engaged on the whim of owner Con Constantine. Gary Van Egmond is also acutely aware of the hole left in his dressing room by losing big personalities Paul Okon, Nick Carle and Tim Brown. It's a big test for a young coach.

Ashame Simon Hill couldn't pronounce Avoca correctly. he could have played that one better - "sure we've got players who grew up playing football on copacabana beach... ...and avoca, the entrance, forresters..."
