Parking? Naaahhhh, not a problem. Just park in the huge (and free) Cityrail carpark at Gosford Station. It's a two minute walk from the Stadium. On Friday match nights, the commuter crowd should have all disappeared by about 6pm-7pm, and there's never a problem parking there on weekends.
I heard Cityrail actively encouraged people to park there when the hapless Northern Eagles RL team played half its home matches at Gosford, so they shouldn't mind us parking there. And I park there whenever there's a local soccer grand final at the Stadium, no worries.
Members of the Central Coast Leagues Club (just opposite the Stadium) can park in its members-only car park. Thus we're back at the philosophical argument as to whether we support the Leagues Club. I for one am already a member, as it's a good place for a cheap feed. (There's an all you can eat for about $15, and you're given these 'two-fer-one' vouchers when you join the club or renew your membership, so you might be able to feed two for that price!) Parking, though, really is a bunfight there, because there is always something on at the club, from bingo to nightclubs.
By the way, if anyone's ever interested in a curry before or after the match, there's a terrifically cheap and good Indian restaurant on the corner of Mann Street and Donnison Street, no more than a few minutes from the Stadium.

Good to see you guys starting to get organised. Will be good to see the Rowdies back in action! The Sydney FC forum is up as of today: sydneyfc.proboards38.com/index.cgiIm sure we will get quite a rivalry happening with you country bumpkins! Still arent even close to having a name for our supporters group, but i think in the initial stages it will mostly be a combination of former Spirit Fans (Mcartney terrace and BobStanders) and the Bay41ers from ParraPower. The first name suggested is "Blue Brigade"...not bad??

Nothing changes, does it Mr Sackman! ;D Considering there is NO LEAGUE YET I'd be buggered as to know what I was doing. No offense, but I see no reason why a club from Gosford should be admitted over a team from a soccer stronghold Wollongong. (INSERT ABUSIVE FLAMES AT FARRELL HERE! ) I know it sounds f***ed, but I ain't let go of Northern Spirit just yet either. www.geocities.com/northernspiritforever/spirmarc.htmwww.geocities.com/salieri_2004/NSFC_p1.htmlAt least a few of us got some atmosphere going at the Solomons match. Hey Ned, you flare-lighting hool! JF

Lots of people say the same ..... there is one good reason: The Coast put in a bid and The Wolves did NOT! Simple really .... can't see why so many don't get it? I would love to see the Wolves in soon but at present they have to get their act together in the NSW Premier League this season under Adrian Alston. Perhaps they just love their local football more ... 3,000 at the Prelim Final at Cringilla, and 5,350 at WIN for the Illawarra Premier League Grand Final - I was there for both - I have been enjoying a few games down in the IPL (as a change from the NSW Super League) and it is a great league. Good luck to the Blues - except when we play them!

Yeh i guess thats all there is to it really! One of the positive things about the central coast though is that we can hoepfully get a decent rivalry happening with both you guys and Newy. And obviously the Newy v CC battle will be good. JF- It will be interesting to see how things pan out with the Sydney supporters. We will obviously be in Bay23, but its going to be difficult to get unison thats for sure

I really hope the Sydney boys find some unity for football's sake.
It was a bit of a fiasco at the recent Australia v Solomons game where you had different factions in different areas competing against each other.

Speaking of the train. Getting to the game (if heading south) you have the choice of the 4.37pm from Newcastle for those that want to watch the Youth Squad, or 5.27pm, which gets you into the stadium at 7pm - just in time for a pie, chips, beer and the National Anthem. Friday nights you'd catch the 4.43pm early train or the 5.23pm or 5.36pm. You could also catch the 6.02pm fast train, but that gets you there right on kickoff and you have to change at Wyong. Gettiong home - if the Club plays on Saturday night, you have (if heading north) the choice of the 9.39pm, 10.42pm, or 11.43pm home. Should they play on Friday nights you've the choice of 10.39pm, 11.40pm or 12.43pm which seems better. Are these times ex-Newcastle Station? DM

It was a bit of a fiasco at the recent Australia v Solomons game where you had different factions in different areas competing against each other. Tell me about it. I nearly had legal action taken against me for a thread that went out of hand on the GGarmy.com forum. One thing, how do you guys feel about being called the "Mariners". I thought people north of Hornsby would not take kindly to being reminded of not only a Rugby league franchise but the evil Super League era. Central Coast Spirit, well that would have been worse for me. I went through hell at times to support Spirit. And was there at the end. The APL, well it has yet to win me over as yet? I'm a fanatical football fan, yet have found other things to do over the summer months (namely the Sydney Kings basketball right in the CBD.) Still I love the game too much to ignore its last chance to really make it. JF

... Hopefully one of our Sydney-based mates can do a similar trainspotting guide for southerly Central Coast Mariners supporters. ... Actually, they give northbound schedules to Novacastrians too, since to get them to travel down to Sin City, they have to be confident that they can escape again as well. The northbound express that arrives in advance of 6pm is: Central 4.27; Strathfield 4.41; Hornsby 5.01; Woy Woy 5.38; Gosford 5.51 The northbound express that arrives at 7pm is: Central 5.42; Strathfield 5.54; Hornsby 6.17; Woy Woy 6.51; Gosford 7.00. And of course, since that is peak hour heading in the same direction as the commuter return, there is an express and a local travelling between the two listed schedules.

OK, there are a couple of options: - The Central Coast Leagues Club - Union hotel - Duttons - Gosford Hotel - Iguanas Joes While the leagues club and the union hotel is the cheapest I vote for Iguanas. It still a very short walking distance, the drinks are reasonably priced, and the view and atmosphere is excellent. Iguana Joes is said to be the best! Most of them are on the way from the station, or near to car park for those driving. There are the other options above, and for the family there are food & coffee places on the way from the station, including Subway & Gloria Jeans. See other drinking holes photos below: members.optushome.com.au/kevrenor/pics/dutt_tav.jpg [/img] Duttons Tavern members.optushome.com.au/kevrenor/pics/gosf_hot.jpg [/img] Gosford Hotel members.optushome.com.au/kevrenor/pics/ig_joe.jpg [/img] Union Hotel Does anyone have a picture of Iguana Joes. Where is it located?

Of course, since they are starting the season in mid-winter, maybe 5:30 Saturday would be a better start until it hits summer.

I'd be happier with a Friday night 7.30pm ko. Catch the 5.12 Flyer from Central (power and point failures permitting) Arrive Gosford 6.28pm. Time for a quick 2 or 3 pre-match beers..... ;D Saturday night @ 7pm will eat into the kids time, an arvo KO will be even worse!

I really hope the Sydney boys find some unity for football's sake. It was a bit of a fiasco at the recent Australia v Solomons game where you had different factions in different areas competing against each other. I'm staying low key for that reason. Sadly if people see me involved from the outset, it may lead to people not wanting to get involved. I want things to be a success. If that means I have to take a low profile in doing so, then so be it. Still I know my new club is going to be called Sydney FC. And at this stage that is all. JF

Just thank feck that there are no more trips to Pittwater.
