Central Coast United coach Grant Lee stated tonight (Mon 3/1/05) on The Football Show - Sydney 90.1 FM - that the game on Saturday 15th January vs Bankstown City Lions will be on at 7pm that night at Central Advocate Stadium. Looking good for meeting up that night! I have to work that night You guys should come over to the bowling alley at Wyoming after the game so I can have a drink with you all! In all seriousness I encourage you all to make a decision as to how/when/where to meet to get a more solid supporter base developing.

So at this stage, could we safely say that people who are interested could lightly pencil in the Gosford Hotel, outside back beer garden (near the caged bird), Saturday Jan 15, 5pm onwards?

Unfortunatly can't be there on the 15th as I have other sporting events to attend. Ahh the joys of supporting a variety of sports

I HAVE IT ON SOUND AUTHORITY THAT THIS GAME WILL NOW BE AT PLUIM PARK, LISAROW.
SORRY GUYS NO DRINKING HOLES THERE, AND ONLY 1 KLM WALK FROM LISAROW STATION. BUT CHECK YOUR TRAIN TIME TABLES BECAUSE NOT ALL NORTH BOUND TRAINS STOP AT LISAROW.
I THINK THAT ALCOHOL CAN STILL BE PURCHASED AT THE GROUND.
I THINK I WILL WAIT AND SUPPORT THE MARINERS NOW, CCUFC (ALSO KNOWN AS ALI BARBER AND THE 40 THIEVES) WONT BE GETTING ANYMORE OF MY MONEY,

I HAVE IT ON SOUND AUTHORITY THAT THIS GAME WILL NOW BE AT PLUIM PARK, LISAROW. Yes, I have heard this during the week, however officially it is still at Gosford. I am awaiting confirmation on the ground from Soccer NSW and the club, as I have to arrange media to cover the game. If it is Pluim, then I'll be there and those that can meet can have a beer, a sanger sandwich, and make arrangments for a proper get together.

There is still ground signage at CC Stadium that the game will be there.
Unfortunately I cannot make the pre-drinks because of playing cricket at St Ives.
I will be there a bit after kick-off.
See you there.

I might bring the dustbins over for a walk if it is Pluim - any ideas when it will be confirmed?

Apparantly CCUFC dont have the money to pay the $8,000.00 ground fee hire for express advocate, and since pluims pitch is ready and is FREE they are applying to have it there but who knows its not being promoted or advertised anywhere on the coast.
So could this be the reason that soccer is deflunk on the coast the lack of advertising of events ?
Any thoughts?

My thoughts are that football is healthy on the coast, with our current support being enough to be granted an A-League spot, and this opportunity being the beginning of something huge for the sport here.
My thoughts are also that 'deflunk' isn't a word.

From the club's mouth:
Central Coast United return to action this week with the highlight Saturday nights clash with Bankstown City Lions at Central Coast Express Advocate Stadium. Both first grade and Grade 20 will be in action with games scheduled for 5pm and 7pm. Gates open at 4:30pm.
A big crowd is expected to United's long awaited debut at the stadium with a spot in the top 4 up for grabs. United will be without Keegan Wolfenden for the match as he is on international duty, however it is expected that former Marconi, Sydney Olympic and Northern Spirit player Mitchell Prentice will make his debut for the Coast side as they expect his clearance from Scotish side Stirling Albion to arrive before the weekend.
The Coast begin the action this week with Grade 20 clash with Australian Institute of Sport on Thursday evening at Pluim Park. The game kicks off at 6:30pm and it is free entry. The AIS are undefeated this season and are expected to dominate the league. However Central Coast were viaing for top spot just before Christmas before their upset loss to the Blue Devils in Canberra. Can the Coast be the first side to defeat the AIS? Will this crop of Institute graduates go on to the heights of their famous alumni in Mark Viduka (Middlesborough), Lucas Neil (Blackburn Rovers), Marco Bresciano (Parma), Vince Grella (Parma), Brett Emerton (Blackburn Rovers), Craig Moore (Socceroo captain and Borussia Mochengladbach) and Frank Farina (former Socceroo and current Socceroo coach). So get out to Pluim Park and see the answers to these questions and more.

Despite strong rumours, Saturdays venue is confirmed to me by the club, and by other sources:
NSWPL - Round 6 Central Coast United FC (7th) v Bankstown City Lions (3rd), Saturday 15th Jan - 7pm Central Coast Express Advocate Stadium.
U20 5pm and 1st Grade 7pm. Gates open at 4:30pm.
Ideas now for meeting up? At least we should meet at the game!

I'm gonna go along.
Anyone planning on hooking up before or after at the pub though?
And anyone know how much entry is, btw?

I will be at the game ... may get to the Gosford Hotel for a while about 5:30pm. Meet up before the game at the northern end of the ground! Admission $12.

No worries, done. I didn't see any response, so I just don't wanna rock up to the pub too early only for no game go-ers to rock up. The caged bird isn't that good for conversation.

Would be very interested to get any info on good eating and drinking spots in Gosford, as I'm not from the area. As 1 of a number of former Northern Spirit fans, I would far rather go and support a team like the Mariners, than Sydney FC who seem to be rapidly turning themselves into the Man Utd of the A-League (I'm thinking of the alleged $800,000 offer to Arie Haan and attempts to sign various big names, some of which may admittedly have just been paper talk.) The fact that there is a fairly strong former Spirit contingent helps, but all in all the Mariners just seems like a better bet. Don't be surprised if there are other Sydneysiders who feel the same. The time and distance involved may make things awkward (especially for Friday evening games), but I'll just need to wait and see....bring on the new season anyway!
