When the decision was made to have CCL as the pre/post-match meeting spot, I was concerned as I used to work there and know how many anal retentives they have working in the bar.
Last night - WHILE I WAS FILLING IN A MEMBERSHIP FORM DESPITE THE FACT THAT I LIVE NEAR NEWCASTLE - I was asked by security to keep my voice down...FFS, I was having a laugh with a member of their staff WHO WAS MAKING MORE NOISE THAN ME!

one time me golden boy and another mate let out a little woohoo when GB had a good win on the pokies and they were onto us like a flash telling us to be quiet. do they not want us to play their pokies either? the crowd there on a saturday night is mostly youngsters going to troppo to blow their ears off with doof doof, i cant see how a bit of noise from us will offend them. The only people who wouldnt want loud sounds are the pensioners on the pokies. And you would have to shoot those addicts to keep them away regardless of how rowdy the other patrons are.
All whinging aside, we just need to have charles or someone read this thread and decide one way or the other, commit to us fully and let us have it our way or see the back of our business. THE MARINATORS WILL NOT BE PUT ON A LEASH

If they don't let us sing (they most likely won't) and keep randomly kicking people out with yellow shirts on, we might have to vote with out feet and take our cash to another drinking spot. Maybe a small pub would be better, where we can all just pile in and take over the joint. I've been searching for the club rules on their web site and can't find any. So I've emailed the club for a copy. I want to know what I signed up for as a member, and what they are out of line on! I note that this guy is a Director: R P Clark - Company Director. Member for 35 years. Director for 5 years. Director NSW Soccer Federation. Perhaps when or if the time comes we tackle him! Before the club invited us to use the facilities we were looking at other places. It may be best to use the Kendall Bar before a game (and also sort out their staff), and go somewhere else after. Duttons or Iguana Joes may present the same issues, I don't know. The Gosford Hotel may be someone we could talk with. (and its near the station! lol) We also don't know what the Mariners will be doing with their members after game functions yet!

I find it surprising you had those problems in the Kendall Bar, listening to what Charles was saying before the game, seemed the Kendall Bar was quiet happy to have us there, prehaps they were new behind the bar??? I have it on good authority that the people involved were long term employees and well known to be grumpy arseholes. Yep got the same message after my original post, maybe they need to look at who they have working the bar after the games Hmmm Club Sloppo for the after game ;D

We bring the numbers and will bring more in the future. I think that our patronage should be highly welcomed. It might be a problem at an individual staff member level where certain security and bar workers are too trigger happy or they may of been briefed on how to deal with us from a higher level. If the latter is true we should easily be able to sway them to more hospitable behaviour by simply pointing out to them the money we will bring them in having us there for 10 home games pre and post match, buying quite a modest amount of alcohol from them. Perhaps, they think because of being next to the stadium their convenience will ensure our patronage. But I doubt that because of what they have done so far for us in terms of dvd players and the fact that they will play the away matches for us on the big screen. I think it's either a case of dickhead employees or a club afraid of football hooliganism. More likely dickheads. Are they going to stiffle us when we're watching away matches? Hopefully next week is better.

Kevrenor (I know what this means in Cornish and it's a GREAT nickname, Marinators),
Does the 4.41pm train from Epping suit you? I can pick it up at 4.31 at Strathfield.
My apologies to both you and Celery regarding the previous post; I would have sworn it was Celery, but you're right, of course. Unfortunately, when you are as weight-challenged as I am, 3XL shirts look awfully tight, especially when there's another shirt underneath.
If someone can source how much 7XL's cost, I will quickly relieve Marinators of the truly frightening sight in seeing a 145kg man in a shirt designed for a 110kg man!! Perhaps if my colleague Fatlazza reads this, I can get some support!!!
I'm a qualified Hotel Licensee and Security person, and I think sometimes our friends at CCLC can go overboard; however, I reckon some of them would be very handy when it got ugly.
BRING ON THE BLING!!!!

I haven't been on the forum for a couple of days and have come back and read this. I had to take Joe Marston home so I wasn't at the club.
The reports seem disappointing.
Let me talk to the club.
It is also pre-season for them so there will always be issues to sort. Nothing sitting down and talking won't fix.
I'm sure we all agree that the Kendall Bar is the ideal venue but we will not tolerate heavy-handed security.
As for taking the link off the website I am very disappointed in you two doing this. The club has already given us hundreds in-kind and as a sponsor of this in-kind we have to be professionals in dealing with sponsors.
If the time comes if we decide to part ways then the link will be removed but until then it has to stay.

Obviously we bring in a huge deal of cash and members, however if we go elsewhere I don't know how concerned they will be. We must accept that security is there and listen to them but as long as we aren't breaking any rules we have a right to complain especially as members of the club. I think that place next door needs to shut the f*** up before we do, I wonder how many of them are members. Did you notice they changed the cricket for thugby league because one table wanted that, I hope they aren't so easily swayed when it comes to the away matches!

The club has already given us hundreds in-kind. Like what exactly Mick? All I've seen is plenty of our money being handed over at the bar and in Club membership. In return we get a distant 'promise' of a bottle of bourbon for a raffle, and treated like dirt. If you had been treated that way I think you would have a different perspective. So let's hear it from your viewpoint.

The security wasn't too bad within the boundaries of the Kendall bar. When Andrew Clark was there a few of us got a big "He's here, he there, he's every........" chant going just outside the Kendall Bar doors near the main entrance and the security came over fairly pissed then.
However they did say that we could "sing as much as we wanted in the kendall bar" so if they stick to those words there shouldn't be a problem.

They did say that, but then all of 30 seconds after we went back into the kendall bar one of them said to me that other people were sharing the kendall with us now so keep it down.

In return we get a distant 'promise' of a bottle of bourbon for a raffle, and treated like dirt. If you had been treated that way I think you would have a different perspective. So let's hear it from your viewpoint. - two DVD players - 6 baskets worth about $70 each that were given as MOMs - use of room and technical equipment for launch (if you ever hire function rooms you would be aware of these costs) As for membership when you join for $5.50 you get a voucher book that gives you four free beers and four free slushies in the Kendal Bar so this is a negative for them. If I was treated as you as I would have talked to the club and get the person responsible for the problem towed into line then going off half-cocked. At the end of the day this would have been more satisfying then a slanging match on the forum that has no positives for both the Marinators or the club. It doesn't make the Marinators any more marketable and doesn't help the prospect of moving somewhere else if we choose that. Gosford is a small place and we can't go burning bridges with venues because of a couple of moronic security guards. You may also not be aware that the same security company handles all the venues in Gosford. Do you think we would be treated any differently at other venues if we get a reputation - justified or not. Perception is everything. We are better off having progressive talks with the club who can tow the security company into line. If people had problems at the launch then it should have been addressed straight away then some of the stuff that happned on Saturday night miught not have happened.

Hi, sorry it took so long to reply to your justifiable anger. Firstly an apology from the Club, and myself personally. As i had agreed with Michael when we invited the Marinators to use the Kendall Bar as your base, singing and chanting, wearing the colours and hats(another apology to the Marinator who was asked to remove his bandana) Was more than acceptable, in fact encouraged. The only thing asked in return was that the Marinators stayed within the Responsible service of alcohol guidelines and the songs did not turn a darker shade of blue. This you have met and shown respect for your home pub. For this i thank you. Which is why i am bitterly disapointed at the treatment you received by certain staff in the bar. It should not have happened, and would not have if I was there. Things were fine pre match. All staff and security will be spoken too. As we had no problems with the first three games we were not expecting this. Our idea is for a low profile precence of management and security. That is why you should only see me and only in passing. The point on the main foyer and being asked to move on, it is a fire door exit area so we can't have large groups milling around there, BUT there is a polite way and a leeway of time in asking to move on. Again if you have a problem please see me. We are more than capable of looking after you and any visiting supporters at the Club. The security is only there for patrons safety and i will endevour to make sure this happens. Finaly, could the lads that were involved in the incident please see me Saturday. I would really apreciate it. Thank you Charles Central Coast Leagues Club

Now that that is sorted lets move ahead. The Kendall Bar is a fantastic venue for us and will be for the season ahead.Charles is obviously a strong supporter of ours so there was obviously a simple misunderstanding of limitations on us.
