Hi guys you can borrow the 2 huge flags we hang in the Kendall on match days if needed. I will also loan up to ten of the polo jerseys now worn on match days by staff, which has 'MARINATORS' on the back. We will also supply a few cartons of soft drink and water just in case it's a hot one. If you think there is anything else you think I can help with let me know. Charles CCLC

I may be able to organise a couple of flat-bed trucks for this and ..................... They're BLUE and YELLOW. No guarantee's but I'll try. Lou I'll PM you my number, can you give me a ring as I'll need a bit more info to pull this off.
What I envisage,
Marinators on the back of the truck/'s in their "Bay16's or Club shirts", everyone all wearing red and white santa hats (the blue and yellow's sound great but where are you gonna get them from or have some one make 50 to 100 of them??) The red&whites are cheap as chip's from Clint's or the $2 shop's.
We sing Xmas carols, original versions or football themed one's we make up ourselves.
Have our very own Bay16 Jesus (Kieran) clad in robes/sheet of yellow (dye them), crown of thorns made from some willow branches weaved together, have him carrying a large very lightweight/balsa wood etc YELLOW cross with the "Mariners" or "Lawrie is the Football God" written/painted on it, walking out in front of our float, perhaps with some disciples in similar yellow robes.
The disciples and other Marinators could collect "yellow coins" for a charity of our choice/ OR we could use the money to buy Mariner soccer balls off the CCMFC or Rebel (Fish?) at a good rate and then donate these to the Salvo's etc as presents for kid's of Central Coast families that they support at Xmas time. Promoting the game to more kid's who's Mum and Dad's mightn't be able to even be able to afford to buy them anything for Xmas.
Ask our very own Auburn if he would graciously paint his face and hands green and become the "Shrek" that we all know is lurking within him, we could get him some Shrek pants and boots or whatever he wears and he can wear his Marinators shirt over the top, I swear the little kiddie's will think he's the real deal.
Banana's are a must! and just build it from there or whatever....

I am willing to tow a large cross for charity. But got to watch out a little. Do not want it to be taken too blasphemus or anything, especially at a Christmas event. Just friendly and fun. Just got to be a little careful what you write on a cross, due to there no doubt being a few religious people at a Christmas event

well mick he might be able to sign the chants off a piece of paper but he defiantely wont hear us singing the chants HEHEHE Mick had a blonde moment. wasn't a blonde statement people have varying degrees of hearing impairment and with the technology available these days that can make out the chants - especially if 100 people are yelling it

if that cross thing is done, I won't be joining you guys. Which brings me to a valid point..... I think we should stick to the chanting of 'yellow' xmas songs as rowdy & others have put forward. (brilliant you guys...keep going!) and the yellow and blue tinsel etc etc. but lets stay away from the religion angle. I know that the season is all about that, but it could be very easily be misconstrued and all the good work we are trying to do is undone. Definately no dressing up as Jesus and without doubt, no wooden cross. Its 'Marinators' all the way here guys and the reason we are doing this is to let all those mums and dads that will be there ( a lot who have possibly never been to a 'soccer' match because we are all hooligans with flares ready to throw!) that we are not like that at all. I think Rowdy's idea of Auburn being Shrek is a beauty, obviously depends on Auburn though. If we can get the truck Rowdy (I think we would only want 1 - just for the drummers) that would be brilliant. (I'll give you a call Rowdy.)

The cross idea is incredibly offensive. To mock the Jesus at Christmas will alienate many people and I wont be part of it - sorry.
The idea of collecting for charity is brilliant - any chance of getting a player or 2 involved somewhere??

heya guys, totally agree to keep the religion out of it. We're doing this for the mariners and to spread the love and joy To spread the word that we have fun and support our team at the game but also outside of the game as well unfortunately i wont be able to make it so take lots of photos for me But i'm happy to help out and to do flyers, lou i pm'd you about them If we can let the people of the coast know our game times (esp with our home run coming up) it should work out a treat
