It is a great song. very very simple, easy for a crowd to sing. It's on the Yellow submarine album. Minor lyric changes would be needed. I think we should deffinatly use it in some way. Lets just use this whole album aye.

Mariners clap clap clap just makes me cringe, sorry but it does. Ditto - yuk! It's almost as bad as the way the Scum sing their Rugby League chant "Neyew-car-sul." Buch of morons. No doubting it's a simple chant though.

Thats because their remedial English teachers taught them to sound out the word slowly :-) We are talking about NRL fans after all.

My young fella was playing with limewire the other day and found the mp3 that Status Quo and Man U did (c'mon you reds) so I thought i'd have a crack at re working the lyrics to suite our guys unfortunately being totally non musical, it has proven to be quite the brain teaser, its sung to the tune of BURNING BRIDGES and the lyrics are as follows:
Busby Babes they always made me cry Thinkin' 'bout the teams of years gone by Charlton, Edwards, Law and Georgie Best We're United, you can keep the rest
Schmeichel, Parker, Pallister Irwin, Bruce, Sharpe and Ince Hughes, McClair, Keane and Cantona Robson, Kanchelskis and Giggs
Come on you reds, come on you reds Just keep your bottle and use your heads For ninety minutes we'll let them know Who's Man United, here we go
Come on you reds, come on you reds Just keep your bottle and use your heads For ninety minutes we'll let them know Who's Man United, here we go
Glory Glory Man United Glory Glory Man United
We'll maintain the status quo We're Man United, here we go
So Old Trafford let us hear you loud Cheer us on and we will do you proud Fifty thousand voices sing our song Keep us at the top where we belong
So here's to Alex Ferguson He'll take us all the way We're on the road to glory now Winning at home and away
We'll maintain the status quo We're Man United, here we go
Come on you reds , come on you reds The team that's able to defend their net We won the Doubles we'll let you know We're Man United, here we go
Come on you reds, come on you reds Just keep your bottle and use your heads For ninety minutes we'll let them know Who's Man United, here we go Man United, here we go Man United, here we go
I got as far as come on the coast, come on the coast your the team we love the most. by all means someone have a go, cause its a great song, and i believ all or part of it would sound great coming out of bay 16..cheers recky

come on mariners? we are mariners? seems a little out of tune (in the verse) and time (in the last line) in the video though.

Its the same tune as a section for Stocky And Kegs "World Cup Glory" (GGarmy) www.youtube.com/watch?v=ph-BBI0S_s0In that video its a bit rushed at the end. Also instead of clapping in between could say "Coasties"

I reckon the Keensy\Lou Macari song that started this thread is our major find so far this season.
Standing in the lower section of Bay 16 against Melbourne, it sounded fantastic, and carried well.
More twirling scarfs and it would be a stunner on TV.
