My sources tell me that Mich Prentice has signed for Perth Glory. Does anyone know who he is?
He was at Northern Spirit when Ian Crook was there. He followed Ian to Newcastle when he signed as coach.

I think each playrer votes only about 3 times a season. How do you think "Bobby Despotovski won it last year? Just fellow players taking the piss!

Anthony Danze and Billy Celeski will come back to the club, while defender Dino Djulbic and young AIS graduate Jimmy Downey will be new additions to the Glory's campaign next season
Jimmy Downey is very quick.

IMO most players want to win trophies too. Clubs are not responsible to supply knowlegeable coaches for all teams when there are no volunteers available to do the job. Club coaches of junior teams are usually a team members DAD thrown in at the deep end with very little experience and expertise because no one else wants, or will do the job, just to allow the team to take the park on game day. They are doing the best they can with the knowledge they have. You would have to pay to get the best coaches to train the youngsters.

Coaches looking for potential rep players would mainly only go to watch the A / B grade final series at the end of the competition. Players in teams lower than this would IMO not be looked at.
The problem you mention of some players in lower grade teams being stronger then the players in the top teams has, and will always happen.
Every time a player crosses the side line onto the pitch they must STAND OUT from the rest. If they can do this the chances of a player being missed at selection time is reduced greatly.
This problem goes right to the top of the game in Australia. Most of the top players pick themselves, and then the other half of the team is a lottery.

I would suggest you send him to Andrea Gumprecht for some private coaching. He runs his own coaching school. You would have to pay for the privilege though, but he would learn a lot more than most club coaches could teach him.

To the best of my knowledge the Mariners are paying the wages of Trott, Porter, and Boogard to play for the Lightning, which shows the Mariners commitment to try to improve the local player standards, as well as supporting the Central Coast Lightning Football Club and its Footballing communities.
I dont think other players are getting paid anything at all, for which the players should be highly commended for.

Players will always want to play where they will be happy. If a club cannot provide the right environment to be happy they will move on.
Gone are the days where any loyalty exists. Clubs always do what is best for Club, so why shoudnt players do what is best for themselves.
If Football Clubs are providing the correct coaching and or development, the players that want to take theirFootball seriously will always be attracted to that club or team.
This is not POACHING

The better players will always want to play with the best players. If the change of club was for this reason fair enough. Nothing more frustrating for a player to be in a team that he cant play with. Put Tommy P into any Central Coast Club side and you would soon see that it would be hard for him to play his natural game with the team. Not good at all.

Obviously some people don't realize that Matt Simon played for Wyoming long before East Gosford. He went to Central Coast Coasties Rep sides at age 11 and Graham Hutch was his coach. Alan Hackett had him in the 12s. He also persuaded him to play at East Gosford when Alan was coaching FIRST GRADE there. If he was not exposed to Alan's training at age 12 and playing REP Football i doubt he would be where he is today. He would not have had to continually push himself. He would have remained a big fish in a little pond. He also played Rep Football in Sydney with Manly long before playing for East Gosford. If he had been exposed to better development when he was 8 or 9 he would be a better player than he is at this time, and not just be in the running for a contract with the Mariners, he would have one. He would also have learned fewer bad habits.

Realistically any player with asperations of playing at a high level will not be playing 16A or 18A football for a local club.
Most will already be playing REP football by the age of 12.
Most will find it extremely difficult to break in if they are not in the mix for State Representative duties by age 14.
If they were really up to it they should already be in the mix for open grade CLUB football.

The 9 players will not be playing at all if some of the C grade player dont come up and play with them. Obviously the 9 are only average players or they would also want to play up so by playing in the B grade they may find it is their level anyway

What happens to the 8 or 9 at Gosford who can't play because of the players who want to play up.
The 8 or 9 players that want to play 16A can drop to the 16B and help develop some of the 16C players that will have to come up and play with them to field a side. Players need to play with the better players to improve. This will improve the C grade players coming up to B grade as well as letting the A grade players still be in competative team.

The situation of clubs and associations not allowing players to play up to their ability is radiculous. It is nothing but a hand brake on player development. We need our better young players to train and play with older players if Australia is to ever become a power in the world game. Young players learn a lot faster from training and playing with older more experienced players. If it is good enough for the powers of the world game to have elite teenagers in their national squads, we should be leanring from them, instead of burying our heads in the sand and not sitting up and taking notice how they develop their best talent.

It will have to be rescheduled for a latter date. It will suit the Lightning as Matt Simon and Brad Porter would not have been playing if it was tonight.

I agree with you keensy. IMO too many players were wanting to look good instead of doing their job.
