Hi all,
Figured I'd better do the quick introductory thing, as this seems to be the place to catch up with other supporters. Basically, I've been following Liverpool since I was about 5, and have fond memories of a time when defeating Everton was fairly straightforward, and the words 'Premier League' hadn't been uttered. Never followed the NSL much, as there was no local team, but can't wait for the A League as I'm within walking distance of the stadium. ;D
Aside from that, I'm interested in any combination of football/drinking/singing and preferably all 3 at once. Look forward to catching up with some of you in the real world.

However, as to whether or not we discuss Liverpool's season on Saturday relies heavily on Thursday morning's result.

G'Day to all, Have been bouncing off the boards as a guest for some time now and thoroughly enjoy all the posts.
Despite the moniker, I don't belong to the "Rowdies"(only learned of them through this forum), & is just my nickname. Pulled on the boots as an U/8 with the Wyoming Tigers back in 1978. My Daughter plays in the Womens Super League w/ Central Coast United & am an active member. Follow the local 1st Grade P/League and of course the NSW Premier League.
Going to the games (Sat & Wed) at the Stadium with the Family (up in stand, as the Daughter is out with a broken leg), however looking forward to a few beers B 4 hand in the Kendall, putting faces to names and grabbing a shirt.
Looking forward to the season start, in the Bay, with the Boys - 'singing and swilling', & appreciating some great football from all teams who can display it.
C'Ya @ the Game's, Rowdy Roddy.

I cannot wait for the weekend, I moved out from England 4 years ago and went to footy every week, having no local team on the Coast was a bugger but now that the Mariners are in town I have 4 years of singing and cheering to catch up on!

Hi all,
Just wanted to say that i cant wait for this. Its gonna be great. Since i moved to Oz 18 months ago, REAL football is the only thing thats been missing in paradise.
Unfortunately i will be in the main stand for this match but will definitely be joining the rest of the marinators from the next match in.
i dont have access to a computer during the day but its been great seeing the forum develop over the past months and all the good work MM,kevrenor and the others have been doing. We seem to have a load of die-hard fans already.
Looking forward to meeting you all in the kendall at 2ish on saturday.
Cheers, Dan ;D

Hi Guys, I'm a newbie to the forum and thought I'd introduce myself. I'm a long term Wolverhampton Wanderers fan [but don't hold that against me... ] with my family links back to the Black Country. My parents where 10 pound immigrants, yet I was actually born here. Spent some time back in the UK when I was younger, and got to see Wolves a few times then, and also saw them in 2001 against QPR. Followed the Spirit until their unfortunate demise, and now with the Mariners it is a long lost calling. This is great for the Central Coast, and looking forward to the season getting underway proper. Come on me babbies.

welcome aboard guys
WWFC, my mate is a wolves fan and lives over there - his name is Greg Terry but I guess you wouldn't know him.
I am also a wolves fan as I grew up playing for the South Wallsend Wolves and because I told my mate 15 years ago that I would support Wolves if they made premier league.
Well, it took 13 years, but I am now keeping that vow.
Hate the baggies!!!!!

Good stuff Mick. I'm a member of NS Wolves, the Sydney supporters club, and haven't met him through that. Got a good bunch of guys and we gather for the monthly beer near Central.
19 years was a long time.....and 1 year not long enough. This season ended positive, so next year could be a good one.
Yeah....hate those Baggies. Looking forward to the next local derby should West Brom go down.

There was a guy in the Leagues Club with the Marinators wearing a Wolves shirt. If it wasn't you, you'll have somone to chat with. Personally, I think Wolves are shite, but then I'm Forest through and through!

Hi all My name is Peter, and went to my first ever premier League standard football game last Sunday to cheer on the Mariners. Previously, I had only been to rugby league games having been a supporter of the Canterbury Bankstown team since they were known as The Berries! But I moved up to Wyong about 3 years ago, and in the meantime, the Bulldogs and RL have been in the news far too often for the wrong reason. I decided that, should any national competition adopt a Central Coast team (rugby union ,league, AFL or Football) then I jump ship. Well, we now have the Mariners, and it was a delight to get out to the game last Sunday. First visit to the stadium too, and I must say, I was pleased to see sucha great playing ground up here. Before I found out about the Marinators and bay 16 I had booked my ticket (bay 29). There were a number of Sydney FC supporters there, but I was impressed by the number of yellow shirts (and wigs) in the crowd! Mick, I got to hear your commentary too! I had previously played Football as a youngster, then a couple of All Age seasons, and hated the jibes I used to get from my friends for playing "wogball". I'm sorry but I think my friends would have had the smile wiped off their faces if they had seen the enthusiasm for Football last Sunday. If anyone has ever been to a rabbitohs game lately, they would be fearful of what the Mariners have achieved in such a small time with a great display of local support. What with the arrogance shown by RL towards their true position in world sport (minnows), I am very happy that not only does Australian football (soccer) has a new chance to establish itself with a professional national league, but I have a trully local team to support. So NRL, where's my team? Right here - as the Central Coast Mariners! Anyone know where to buy a Mariners jersey? I have enquired about season tickets, and will be in Bay 16 next time folks. A huge thumbs up for the CCmariners for a great first up effort as a team, and great stuff to see all the supporters. I'm impressed!!!! Regards Peter

Well sealpup, I think you are exactly the type of person that the FFA is targeting! I KNOW you won't regret your decision to take on board the 'new' football and in particular the mariners. As far as your 'mates' (mates?) giving you a hard time for playing 'wog ball' ....that kinda talk went out years ago ...tell em to get well and truly f***ked! and play to your hearts content...its 'the beautiful game'! "Aahhggrrr.....Welcome aboard me heartie!

Hey Lou! Yeah those 'wogball' comments did stop awhile back, but it was a prevailing wail from RL fans back when I was playing football. I have always felt, and my late Dad did too (he was manager of our junior football team when I was a kiddie), that Football has always been a sleeping giant. I have heard the stats about junior players for years, how many parents prefer their kids to play football rather than RL or Ru for fear of serious injury etc. and always wanted the Football code here to develop into something huge. From what I saw at the Stadium, the Mariners already have a decent local support which is something that clubs like SydneyFC, Melbourne and Queensland Roar are going to have troubles getting. Rollon the A-League, and get those goals in the Net! A few wins and I think the Mariners will have the crowds coming thru the turnstiles, particularly when there is that break between RL/RU seasons and the summer ( Sept - Nov ).
