My only contact with the Central Coast is that I have spent a great amount of time fishing the rocks and beaches there. I have always lived in Sydney. The main reason I chose the Mariners is that I had an attachment to many of the players from the old Northern Spirit team and I liked the way Lawrie turns out a team. There always seems to be a good atmosphere among the players. Secondary reason is the travelling. I can get to the Central Coast stadium much easier and quicker than Sydney either by train or driving. Come and have a beer before the game in the Kendall and introduce yourself. I'm the one with the beard who isn't Froggy.

I can only agree with others, go to a few games (which you have) and follow your heart. Dont overanalyse it, you've probably already decided deep down so dont let your head get in the way!
I have a feeling the Mariners will be everyones 'second club' anyway, we're very likeable, 'described' as underdogs, nice colours, exciting football, and a beautiful stadium. It's certainly a club that is brand new and could go somewhere so if you want to grow a real loyalty and look back in 20 years and know you've been there from the start, this is the club for you.

i'm not going to use the phrase "in love" because from a chick it's sounds groupie slaggish.....
However, this is the first team I've ever supported or taken an interest in outside of ice hockey. I like the style of play, the players and the management/coaching/support staff that i've had the opportunity to meet.
They're a friendly club and well worth the effort...
and you can support the mariners and still meet the players from other teams that you want to. Support and boycott are not synonymous

We all know Yellow is a better colour than blue I'd agree with what everyone has said, just go with your heart, if it feels right support the club if it doesn't don't. I've spoken with players of other clubs no problem, I even had to stretcher off someone from another club and didn't do an SFS and drop them. We enjoy associating with supporters of other clubs (ok MOST supporters) so you'd have no problem there, whatever club you decided to support. As for Johnti 'skunk' Richter - he'd rather be a Mariner.

Howdy y'all. I second whats been said in recent posts. I live in northwestern Sydney, and it takes just as long to get to Sydney games as CC ones, but Ive been to 4 CCs and 2 Sydney ones. Have to say I prefer CC. I went to the New Zealand game tonight, dragged the folks along, and they took some photos that Ive put up on my dodgy MSN space thing. Managed to get quite a few, including the brawl, the goal, and plenty of Sully, as we are fans of him. spaces.msn.com/members/ole-streetfootball/PersonalSpace.aspx?_c01_photoalbum=showdefault&_c=photoalbum

Well I am a life long Central Coast resident who is predominantly a NRL fan though follow just about any professional sporting competition it must be said. After attending most home games this season (the last being the game just gone vs New Zealand) Football has never been better for this long suffering Leeds Utd. fan since the Central Coast Mariners were born! Work has not enabled me too attend all games though that will change in 2006/07 and I am all set for my yearly membership package and reserved seat (sorry Marinators, though I love listening and watching you all). Hopefully I get to meet some of you in the not too distant future. It took me a while too join here though you get that when working 12hr days See you all around! Love the forum!

Is this where you say hey I am new? Well... I am. He he he. I am a very keen Mariners supporter. At first it was by association but now I have spawned a love for them all my own I am a permanent number in the home crowd figures and have travelled to both Newcastle and Sydney to watch this amazing team. As for joining this forum... I suppose you could put it down to either boredom or passion. Let's go with passion shall we? Long live the Mariners! LJC

Well done lads 1-1 against Adelaide and having John Kosmina announce on national TV that the club he feared most was CCM.
But, Just a praise for thought, our CEO, Lyall Gorman is not that well.
