Pre-season cup opener on 14/07/2007
Big ad in today's Express (nothing on CCM website yet) Instead asks supporters to consider a gold coin donation to 2GO's Gimme 5 for Kids
A present from Uncle Pete? Hopefully will result in a big crowd.
Guessing then that the pressure on getting memberships out is off until the end of August. The Club won't even need to send out tickets to these games as they did last year before the packages came out (won't be having the reserved seats though).

I like it in some ways, but in other ways I don't.
1. Doesn't promote looking after members, means the membership pack is for 1 game less (the orange game is now free thou but that's obviously further away).
2. With a 6pm ko and with good advertising there should be a good crowd.
3. Great way to get a few doubters through the door.
4. Cheap night out.

Also - how will they allocate the reserved seats for this game?
Platinum and gold members reserve their seats, they have the right to sit in them......
There could be a huge rush for all the better seats?

Good initiative for a pre-season match, if as DJ said, the reserved seat holders are looked after.
The Mariners should be using this initiative to convert as many fringe goers as possible.

Got a letter today saying no reserved seating, not happy about that aspect. That's a bit unfair for all you people that have gold or platinum memberships. It probably should only be free seating for General Admission in my opinion. Still it's a good idea to have free entry to the game, hopefully bring in a big crowd .

Its 1 game. Are you seriously complaining about not getting your usual seat for 1 game if it means and extra 5000 people in the gate, who quite possibly will come back every other game and pay?
Wake up.

well the answer is definitely "THE WHOLE STADIUM IS UNRESERVED"
So first in gets the choice of seats anywhere!
However, should the Mariners progress in the PSC, the members will be looked after.
This is a 1 off charity event.......so I think it's a good initiative from the club but I think reserved seat holders could have been offered their seat?
Fingers crossed we get well over 10k

Yeah, the membership letter said that membership cards will have been distributed before the finals of the PSC.

I must say, getting my letter today to be informed my Platinum Membership didn't reserve me a seat at the game is most disappointing. I love the concept and will gladly donate to charity, though the membership pamphlet that came out lists: "Entry to Mariners Pre-Season Home Games"
Whilst yes we get entry, EVERY ONE get's this.
I appreciate any finals game at Bluetongue will be reserved, though I purchased thinking game one is July 14, 2007 and I will have my seat reserved.
Not a BIG deal, though disappointing all the same.

marinermick, granted - we do - though my concern is as a Platinum Member of the Mariners at Bluetongue Stadium, not the free ticket to the game at Orange. My commitment is to be at ALL home games this season, I won't be travelling to away games unless we are in the finals. My expectation after making the purchase was a ticket to ALL home games incl. the Pre-Season Cup - this has proven not to be the case and again, I am a little disappointed.
In any event, I gave my feedback to the club and it was taken on board (I have to applaud the admin of our club, they are some of the finest I have dealt with). The reasoning behind this decision is to support the charity which I applaud, it was one not made lightly. To in some ways compensate for those missing a reserved seat for the game, IF we make the Pre Season finals, our reserved seating comes in to effect which is outside of last year's offer I am told.
I can live with that.

I think it is a great initiative, for fans, as well as for charity. Hopefully some good money is raised

I won't be able to get this game anyways (work commitments), but I support Mariner_Freak's points here. The Gold and Platinum pay that little extra for a seat, substituting that AFTER THE FACT, with a promise of free entry into a game that's, what, 300K's away in Orange in a lower standard stadium/ground, is not the way to endear a club to it's paying members. If we had known about this BEFORE the club pushed people to reserve their seat before a June cut off - then maybe that might have been better accepted. Wholeheartedly support the concept of helping a charity, but it could have been better managed, Ivan.....

Have a go at lifting your head up a bit and having a look at the 'big picture' dude. Jeff, Worthy cause factor: 10/10 Marketing Opportunity & Possible new fans: 8/10 Looking after those who have paid (already paid that is for this season and past ones): 5/10 For the extra 5 K or so they may pick up and a crowd of , guesstimate up to 15K, what would be wrong in accomodating a portion of only 2000 members? BTW, Jeff, it's only a minor gripe - I can't go anyway, but I hope it's not the shape of things to come where paying members are pushed aside for the sake of some event or another. And, no doubt, some will contact the club and let them know if it's a problem for them. However, others may say nothing and that could lead to a view by the club that it's members are flexible to such changes without notice, and do it more often. Voicing a difference of opinion here, does give the club some feedback on how some feel. If we all 'toed the line' and said nothing here too or followed the corporate pitch, that would just create a false impression. Some members aren't happy with the arrangements, that's seems to be the truth. Do you wanna tell the club any different and just give them the upside to the event?
