IMO the Mariners have advertised their membership packages with the upcoming game against Wellington as a fixture included in their paid membership benefits for the year. They should really stick to what they have communicated to the public and offer those seats to the people who pay good money to own them for the games.
However it's an excellent opportunity for the club to try and get a few more bums on seats and come across well in supporting charity. Plus those people attending who perhaps may be uncertain whether to get a membership or not may watch the game, enjoy it and say what the hell let's buy 1?
There is 2 sides and I can fully understand both, but have to side with the reserved seat holders.
In saying that I know the club will look after their members and do what they can to make them feel like a valued member of the Mariners. Should we progress in the competition we will be looked after.
Bikinigirl raises a very good point...........there were a number of people complaining at how bay 16 was getting full from people who didn't sing or stand, this is very similar.
At the end of the day, everyone needs to move on, accept the clubs decision and enjoy the game on Saturday! Let's do what we all do best and support the Mariners in the best way we can!

The only people who are getting worked up here are the ones who profess "ownership" of their seat, and by that mean some actual, individual ownership of the club beyond your piddly little keyring and the luxury of not waiting in line for a ticket on game day.
so, if you weren't saving money by buying a membership, would you still do so?
If you answered yes, shut the f##ck up and enjoy the game and the atmosphere.. If you answered no, you can f##ck off anyway. I love the way people attempt to reason their way out of indignation of losing 15/25 bucks and their reserved seat for a preseason game - like Leroy said, "youse all just squealin like a pigs"...

An issue that no one has seriously addressed is what will happen to Bay 16. My prediction................, it will be sparse apart from a few diehards and wannabes as most of the regulars take the chance to actually see a game of football, with goals at both ends from the luxury of good seats. The upside of all this? Many from bay 16 will decide to buy better tickets in future. More money for the club, less crowding in bay 16, more noise from the rest of the ground. Inspired decision. Ivan deserves a bonus.

Reasoned Debate guaranteed to engender harmony amongst members! I don't have any dramas losing "my seat" for one game. I'm sure there will be plenty of good seats available. Perhaps the club could have gone a step further in the PR stakes by sending an email to those affected explaining the reasons behind the decision.

"Reasoned Debate guaranteed to engender harmony amongst members!"
- well thats what you get when you have different classes of memberships, innit. The club obviously couldn't get membership packs out for whatever reason, and instead turned a stuff up into a great PR exercise to kick start the season....and i reinterate, the only people complaining are those with reserved seats. Everyone else wins...

Its 1 game. Are you seriously complaining about not getting your usual seat for 1 game if it means and extra 5000 people in the gate, who quite possibly will come back every other game and pay? Wake up. I'm with Bearinator on this one. Anyway, if you get in early enough you will get your seat. I thought Pommies were supposed to be whingers!!

I wasn't going to make any further comment on this, both sides of the argument have been thrashed out - little more I could add. But, to be cheeky, I have just gotta ask...... is the Chairman's Lounge up for grabs too...?! ;D (All Bay16 regulars head for the Lounge located lower level, Eastern Stand, to the strains of "Oh -I love to have a beer with Lyall, oh I love to have a beer with Pete..." Well? ?? To paraphrase what the late Joh Bjelke might have said: "What's good for the goose is better than a swift kick and a blunt stick up the gander's bum.") Don't take this post seriously, folks....

" the only people complaining are those with reserved seats. Everyone else wins... I've been a platinum member since day one and a 2GO listener since I moved to the Central Coast. I think this is a great chance to get a lot more bucks into the Gimme 5 for Kids coffers. Roonytunes as a platinum member I AM NOT COMPLAINING re the possibility of not sitting in the seat I have occupied for the past two seasons. I fully support the sentiment of this promotion for this game and I do not feel cheated or whatever terminology has been used regarding this game not being part of the membership package. In fact I will be bringing two friends with me who havent been to a game before and will be happy to drop a note into the bucket NOT a gold coin. My children's health is not an issue to me but there are many families on the Central Coast who do it tough through illness (some terminal) and so it is not a burden to "give up" my seat if it will help the kids of the Central Coast have some quality of care during their tough times.

Sir, I take off my hat to you. You are a shining example of good human nature, and if all the other complainers were like yourself we would have a much better support base for the beloved central coast mariners. Not only do you not care if your seat is taken, you bring people to help support the cause. You sir, are a legend. (this is not sarcasm, remember it, this is possibly the 1 and only time you will see me being genuine)
