They played some great football last night in the first half, i cant wait to see how leathal Sasho and Nik will be in a couple more weeks. Heffs body check was solid as, he could play rugby league with hits like that it was solid.

Great night
Got soaked but it was all worthwhile
Terrfific atmosphere and a first half display that suggests that Mariners have the ability to tear any team apart
Sydney rallied in the second half and I must admit I was impressed with Juninho. He is very skillful and every time he was knocked over he got straight back up...he will cause some probems once the other players learn to play off him
Our best IMO was Gumprecht in first half...he tore the Sydney mob apart

How did you guys all rate Owens when he came on? Had a good strike on goal and has a very distinct style of play, from way back in the corner where i was sitting i didnt recognise who he was coz all i had to base it on was his playing style! When heff copped that strain late in the game he was forced to play defensively and i thought he handled it pretty well too. Other thoughts? Need opinions!

When Mrdja scores it's gonna be fantastic: His post-rattler was obviously very close, but the free-kick wasn't far off and he almost got a diving header. Clinton's foot-save was very lucky.

What a glorious feeling! Waking up today I'm 21 and I will remember this forever!
As for the football, this was like the Grand Final, and round one last year - but reverse.
In those games, we had the best chances, but didn't have the quality to knock it in. Sydney had more good chances than us last night but were missing that final piece to put it away.
After round one last year, we were saying how many positives there were and how we would improve, but it never really happened. I can see that happening to Sydney this year unless Patrick turns out to be some genius. I would be worried as their supporters.
As for us, all the pieces have fallen into place and with our players we will take that odd chance that we get. We will win games like last night and we will do very well! I can't wait til Friday!
Word is though that Wilko took a knock - could the record run of appearances be over?

Vidmar and Boogs in the middle. Not a bad combination should Wilko be out.

Fan f*ckup of the game:
The ENTIRE Sydney crowd thinking they'd gotten a penalty despite the referee pointing the opposite way from the second he blew the whistle. Also, the whinging on their forum about how the referee didn't "protect" Juninho..... what a crock of shit, no player deserves protection, play by the f*cking rules.
Just saw Heffernan's body check again on the replay. Wonderful piece of defence, he could play for the Central Coast Rhino's with that form. ;D

Haha, yeah, Hutcho did show possibly his finest performance seen for quite some time - perhaps this heralds a return to form? We were definitely the stronger team - we tore them apart so many times. Their defence was tight enough in the box to minimise our chances, and Sydney did completely blow a gift or two, so our defence could still be a problem. but Sasho scoring the only goal....man, that's poetic Beautiful!! Top start to the season. We're looking good! That was great when the boys came over to celebrate with us afterwards. Top work! Man, my throat ain't too good though! lol.

Those who watched the replay, how close to crossing the line was the shot that Boogs cleared off the line in the 85th ish minute??? Clearly not a goal. About half a metre in it.

The resemblances between Sydney and Man United seem to be growing, because both clubs are playing shit ATM.
