If last night is anything to go by Juninho will tear you apart with the greatest of ease.
Only problem is you'll do the same to us down the other end - probably even worse.
If we can get a grip in the midfield over Gumprecht/Jedinak we're in with a chance. Milligan back to make the difference there.

We'll be hitting A-League pace from the first whistle because we are very, very ready for the season. Juninho will last what, 60 minutes in that? Jedinak as marker will be a nice little introduction to A-League football for him too. My main worry is free kicks, which we give a lot of soft ones away in dangerous areas. Hopefully the boys are well aware of that.

Got scythed a few times last night in Penriff - handled it quite well tbh. Some of those through balls were just sublime though - seen nothing like it in the HAL... A real class above. If Wilko and co have been ball watching as of late...

nothing i can add to this other than saying you cannot blame danny for two of the goals last week Can blame him for not even attempting to make any save what-so-ever. He watched them both crawl over the line. From a keepers point of view, even if he attempted to get down for them, there would be less criticism. That's what I felt about those 2 goals too, Bearinator - very soft. And I doubt Danny moved a foot towards attempting a save let alone a decent attempt. Good tho, that we can argue the point of choices of goalie eh? Must be a bit of a headache for Lawrie tho. For Sydney there's Bolton and who?

I don't think that Jedinak is a dirty player... the comments above seem to paint him as a hitman! His size and hard tackling makes him a formidable guy to get around in the centre midfield, and yes he's been red carded before and made some decisions whilst defending that he shouldn't have. But to go out there and hack someone, no.

But to go out there and hack someone, no. he's not outright dirty, he's hard. but he's also a little young, and sometimes will do something a more experienced man may pull out of. remember when he flew into hyuk su-seo last year? if he's getting turned every which way, he may well give out a kick or two *but that's ok!* defensive midfielders *have* to give the occasional kick to let the prancy boys know that they're not going to be treated like a turnstile with impunity. they need to impart some fear from time to time.

Juninho will be an asset to the league I have no doubt.............1-1 at HT with a decent team on the park how did you boys look Jaza? (I assume more creative going fwd but dodgy at the back)
Didn't Penrith finish near the bottom of the NSWPL?
I think we have a better chance late on in the game on Friday, our fitness levels should be higher compared to Sydney.
Early prediction for me is 1-1..........

(I assume more creative going fwd but dodgy at the back) I'm v unhappy with Branko's tactics so I was unhappy - but as you'd expect looking better going forward than in defence to say the least. Still enough quality to do damage. Reserves cost us the game in the second half - trialists were abysmal. Mariners 3-1 for Friday - our "fullbacks" won't cope. One is a CB the other a box-to-box midfielder.

This was taken from the Penrith Rugby League forum site about last nights game.
A crowd of approximately 4,000 people watched Penrith Nepean United beat Sydney FC 2 - 1 at CUA Stadium tonight.
FC played the game with their first eleven, including the debut appearance of Juninho. Scores at half time 1-1.
FC then made mass changes at half time and PNU converted a penalty opportunity and held on to the end to win 2-1.
Sydney FC 1st Half: 1 Clint Bolton, 2 Iain Fyfe, 4 Mark Rudan, 6 Tony Popovic, 10, Steve Corica, 14 Alex Brosque, 15 Terry McFlynn, 16 Mark Milligan, 21 Adam Biddle, 22 Juninho, 23 Ufuk Talay.
2nd Half: Brendon Santilab, Miko Tsattalios, Robbie Middleby, David Zdrilic, Mike Enfield, Adam Nash, Shannon Cole, Chris Nunes, Shane Webb, Robbie Catanach, Tolgay Ozbay.

If they can't beat Penrith Nepean (who were last in the NSWPL I believe), regardless of how many changes they made in the 2nd half, I'm confident, but I'll still say 1-0.
As an aside, nice work from Penrith, crowd wise, will be interesting to see if they opt to have Westies United out of Penrith Stadium instead of Parramatta.

Penrith were indeed last in the NSWPL (won by the mighty Blacktown Demons!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) Even so, I'd take a result like that with a grain of salt. From what I read, Bling made quite a few changes in the 2nd half, and it wouldn't surprise me if Culina was using the game to experiment with various tactics ahead of the game on Friday.
Not saying he wouldn't have wanted to win, but maybe the result wasn't the be all and end all.

Friday night will see a different Sydney FC display, getting motivated by 25k+ fans in the opening round of the HAL is a little different than a trial match in Penrith in front of 4k.
I don't see any reason why we can't get 3 points...........but SFS is not the best ground for us with our only win coming from a lot of luck!

Yep, getting into work this morning the excitement actually stepped up a gear! Funny how it's when you sit in that mundane environment that the anticipation for the weekend really builds. And funny that I have felt more excitement for each season as the A-League has gone on. Can't wait for Friday!!!
