hopefully everyone is as loud and passionate as they were on friday night, that was really something FIRE THE F*CK UP!!!! Is it Friday yet?? To everyone who took the FIRE UP challenge last night - well done to every last one of you. Notable examples were LouMacari, Dru, Tiger, Auburn, and Dibo. I gave it my best shot too, as those who heard could testify....... ("Coastie Boys, we are here" anyone??) We can always try and get louder though (HA!!!! Not without seriously violating some eardrums, we were phenomenal). ;D

Serious - We are getting much better at repeating songs more than two times which is really key to getting them loud.
I can't wait for this game. I rate Wellington from what I have seen so far, Ricky Herbert has turned them into a hard team to beat compared to Knights. They play long balls into the corners, luckily we are strong in the air all the way across our back four, but our defenders will really need to be switched on for this.
The key should be just keeping hold of the ball. Knowing Lawrie we will line up the same as Friday since we won, and that midfield we used should be able to control things nicely.
Winning two weeks in a row is something the Mariners don't tend to do, so that will be an interesting point for me against Smellington. We need to win this sort of game if we want to be serious about coming top 3 this season.

Really looking forward to this game, not as nervous as i probably should be only because Wellingtons primary attacking method seems to be aerial assaults from long balls or corners (from what i can see of the only a-league footage in existance ) but yeh, as stated we have pantloads of experience in the air in the back 4, particularly Osman who for mine is one of the best headers in our team, always beats his man and always gets the direction right aswell. Boogaard noggin is nothing to sniff at either, so i believe we can neutralise that threat ok, our breaking speed from such long balls in can be an advantage too, i can see an intercept header out to heffernen who will carve it up the line and a through ball to mrdja who probably has most of their backline covered for pace will give us our first goal. Mariners 3 - 1 Wellington (I also predict a high scoring game)

If by welcome lunch you mean "leave work early on Friday to beat the rush to Gosford" then yes, I totally agree.

sorry if this has been posted already. would suck if heff is ruled out Officials to view video nasties FOOTBALL chiefs will today view footage of incidents that could spell trouble for Dean Heffernan and Danny Tiatto after a controversial first round of the A-League season. Heffernan's crude body check of Mark Milligan during the Central Coast's visit to Sydney and Tiatto's ugly two-footed tackle on Richie Alagich will headline an X-rated video to be viewed today at Football Federation Australia. Heffernan's out-of-character lunge into Milligan bizarrely resulted in a free kick against the Sydney player, and even Central Coast coach Lawrie McKinna conceded afterwards his defender deserved a yellow card. The shoulder charge appeared premeditated, and last night Sydney coach Branko Culina declared: "If that isn't a red-card offence and a penalty I don't know what is - and for the referee to penalise Milligan was mind-boggling. "I think if the FFA has a look at the tape, they may react differently to how the referee did. If we allow this type of thing in the game then maybe we're in the wrong game." Tiatto meanwhile escaped any sanction for a series of fouls which included the lunge on Alagich, and last night Fox Sports pundit Robbie Slater said both players should have been shown red cards. "Heffernan raised his elbow - if the referee sees it it's a red card," he said. "The TV replays paint a pretty clear picture - he turned away from the ball and moved to take him out. "With Danny, if there's any intent it's also a direct red card - a two-footed tackle is illegal." Slater said all the A-League clubs would be watching closely to see how hardline an approach the FFA decided to take. "This will set the precedent for the rest of the season - the FFA have to decide on exactly what is illegal and I think it's pretty clear," he said. "Other clubs will use this as a reference point for the rest of the season." The A-League's head of operations, Rob Abernethy, said last night that any incidents brought to the FFA's attention from the weekend's games would be scrutinised within 48 hours of the end of the round. "We can't overrule card decisions - once a card has been issued we can't overrule that," he said. "But if there's a serious infringement that's escaped the attention of the referee, then we can cite based on that. Whether it's a citeable case is something that we'll review with all matters that are brought to our attention. "Match inspectors can sometimes refer matters to us but until we can look at the replays, obviously we can't make any decisions." Meanwhile, Culina put his players through a high-tempo training session yesterday as he bids to up the ante ahead of Saturday's home tie with Adelaide. Despite viewing the 1-0 reverse on Friday as a reasonably promising start, Culina had a simple message for his team. "We need to score goals and stop conceding silly ones," he said. "Collectively we've got to take our opportunities. We had 17 shots to their 10 - they had three clear-cut chances and we probably had six or seven. We're never happy when we lose and we need to sort out a couple of problems but overall there were many positives." Having switched formations at halftime on Friday, Culina will continue to fine-tune his preferred shape as players return from injury. "My dilemma is how to suit these guys into a formation that suits the team best," he said. "When we've got all our players back, we'll vary our tactics - that's the bit of mystique about our team. No one really knows what we're going to come up with." www.news.com.au/dailytelegraph/story/0,22049,22311097-5001023,00.html
