Would've been a player/coach if he'd counted as a local, but he doesn't and they didn't want to use an import spot on him.

i dont know what the limit is but i thought it was 3, but at any case they have 5 overseas players. so what are they doing about it and when is the limit to fix it? and if they don't how will they get reprimanded?

The limit is four players and Hyuk-Su Seo is currently applying to get Australian Citizenship. However they asre also planning to sign a Brazilian, Marcinho, ass soon as that's completed. Also, I think Stuart McClaren already holds citizenship here.

Brazilian midfielder Marcinho has signed a one-year contract with the Queensland Roar and is expected to make his debut on Sunday against South African side Supersport United in a practice match.

The 25-year-old impressed coach Frank Farina in trials during May and completed his move to the club on Tuesday, becoming the fourth permitted international player on the Roar's roster alongside compatriot Reinaldo, German defender Marcus Wedau and Korean midfielder Hyuk-Su Seo.

Speaking through an interpreter, Marcinho declared that he was set to put in the hard yards for the Roar and be as instrumental for Frank Farina's men as Fred was for the Melbourne Victory during 2006/07.

"I intend to try very hard to be a better player in the Hyundai A-League than Fred was for Melbourne. I believe I can do it and I hope to prove it," said Marcinho.

"I like to play just behind the front two strikers and feed them with the ball as much as I can."

"I enjoy getting forward and scoring goals so hopefully that's what the fans of Queensland Roar will see from me."

"I want to show some flair and entertain the crowd, but flair is no good if nothing happens from it. It's important for me to both set up goals and score them."

Marcinho has previously played for Sao Paolo and Naval in the Portuguese Primera Liga, but admitted that, before being contacted by the Roar, he knew little about the Hyundai A-League and only took notice of Australia as a football nation following the Socceroos' efforts in the 2006 World Cup.

"A year ago I knew very little about Australian football, but since the World Cup people are waking up to the game here. In Brazil we had no idea that the league attracted big crowds and the teams play in such nice stadiums," he said.

"Using South American players can only help to develop the skill level of the league and the lifestyle here will continue to attract players from Brazil."

McClaren is an Australian citizen

Marcinho is not yet registered. He will only be registered when Seo's citizenship is cleared.

Yeah, I doubt it would be used. When James signs, he'll most likely pick 14 over 4, because 4 is rarely used for strikers and 14 is.
