And now for the lesser known qualities of Australian internationals Every year a few players from our team sell sausages at Germany's biggest christmas market in Nuremberg for a good purpose. This picture is from last week. The right one is Josh Kennedy. He is already training with the team and may need a few more weeks until he could play again in the League

He would have been doing something similar over here too, so it's almost like he never left!

Good to hear another 2006 WC squad member is back in training! Josh is your man if you need a tall striker to head in a few goals.

Happy new year to all of you! Kennedy may be in option for our team in February, but not earlier. He just started training with the team. First as a goalie and wasn't allowed to do anything else Oh I forgot Meggzi played the complete quarter final match which we won in penalty kick. He didn't shoot a penalty. We won because our goalie saved 4 out of 5 shots! After that a short winter break started and the team got together again on January 2nd. In two weeks the league will start again. We will have three matches in 6 days. Against Stuttgart, Gladbach and Munich. Stuttgart and Munich at home. Those will be tough games, but the team looks good. Meggzi may play the first matches, but also Spiranovic is already an option. Still incredible how that young guy performs! Now a few pictures from the friendlies. One was against FC Brugge and the other against Mons, also a Belgian team Spiranovic is the one in the back: and please don't ask how our team performed indoor. It was miserable ;D

I just found that Heff is doing a test at FC Kilmarnock from the Scottish Premier League. This team is currently 7th.
Michael is out until next week and won't play the first match on Saturday against Stuttgart. Spiranovic may take his place. Kennedy doesn't have the fitness yet for a Bundesliga match

It was reported on the Nurn website too. This is a Babelfish from it...
"N?berg - club defense player Dean Heffernan flew to Scotland, in order to have an interview with the Scottish Erstligisten FC Kilmarnock.
The Australian changed the season ago of the cent ral Coast Mariners to the 1.FCN, exhibits however still no federal league employment. In the Bavaria league the 26-j?ige Linksfu?dagegen was used already several times.
Kilmarnock, Scottish master 1965, is in the table of the Scottish Prime Minister League with 33 points on the sieved place."

Heff would do ok in the SPL, very similar to the HAL but we have no Celtic or Rangers (I guess we could almost add Hearts to that)

That would be a great move for him, provided he could crack the 1st team. Set him up there for a few years, then come home and win us the A-League. Perfect.

Hard to get info on their performances, but a quote from a Nurnberg fan on Xtratime;
"Spiranovic made a great first half. No special actions, but simply no mistakes. I don't know why Beauchamp played in the second half, but also he made a decent job. "

Sorry, for not yet writing something about this incredible week. I'm still celebrating and speechless We really destroyed both Stuttgart (4:1) and Munich, who are 3rd and 4th currently. Munich won both championship and cup the last two years and in Nuremberg every victory against them is a big triumph. There is a historic 7:3 and 4:0 and this 3:0 will also be quite historic. Meggzi and Spiranovic are part of it. Michael was injured during this week and could only play 45 minutes. Spiranovic therefore started against Munich with, like our coach said 1 minute experience in Bundesliga , and he was brilliant. Especially against Makaay and Pizarro who both are high class attackers. Makaay made 72 goals in 115 Bundesliga matches and Pizarro 98 in 216. Only Makaay had one big chance when the offside trap didn't work. Since Matthew had some issues with his muscles Michael came for him after 45 minutes and he was also terrific. Bayern even played with 3 attackers now. The third one was Podolski. OK, Bayern currently is not in best shape after they lost Ballack last summer, and they even changed their coach back to Hitzfeld on Wednesday. Hitzfeld won the Champions League with Munich among several German championships. However everyone is now talking about this big victory and it is well deserved. And Spiranovic was even mentioned on Germany's biggest football show for his good performance. He has a big future. Not to forget Michael who came back after his injury and played like he never was away and played his role as expected. Bayern might be bad as a team at the moment, but the attackers are still very dangerous if you give them too much space, but they didn't get much of it BTW Kennedy is still not fit enough, but I expect him to finally debut for Nuremberg within the next 4 weeks. To get an idea about Friday and the game a few photos:

Thanks for the report, Cyberiad.
Any word of the injuries to the 2 other first choice centre backs which have given Meggsi and Spiranovic a chance?
Is it Glauber and Nikl? Would you say that Meggsi will be sent back to the bench when they come good, or....?
