From SMH online:
Petrovski signs with Mariners
Central Coast Mariners kick-started their 2007-08 season recruitment campaign by signing Socceroo striker and leading A-League marksman Sasho Petrovski.
Petrovski, 31, is the equal third most prolific goal scorer in the A-League's short history, with 14 goals for Sydney FC over two seasons.
But he had a difficult time in Sydney FC's tumultuous 2006-07 season, failing to see eye to eye with recently sacked coach Terry Butcher and coming off the bench in later matches.
There was speculation he could link with former Sydney FC coach Pierre Littbarski's club team in Japan but Petrovski believed he could enjoy further success with the Mariners.
"I'm looking forward to it," Petrovski said. "When things weren't going too well with Sydney earlier on in the year, I thought coming to the Mariners would be the perfect and ideal move if I was to continue in the Hyundai A-League.
"As a goal scorer, you always want to score goals and break a few records along the way, I always put a lot of pressure on myself to score goals and I have ambitions win trophies, win awards and break records with the Mariners."
The Mariners see Petrovski as the man to supply some much-needed edge in front of goal.
"One of the key areas where we were often found wanting last season was up front and, in Sasho, we have acquired one of the best finishers in the Hyundai A-League," said Mariners chairman Lyall Gorman.
"I'm very excited to be welcoming a player of Sasho's stature to the club and his signing is the first of a few that we believe will see us re-establish ourselves as a force to be reckoned with in Australian football and accelerate our ambition to become the centre of excellence for football in Australia."
Petrovski's goal scoring exploits also include earning the National Soccer League (NSL) top goal scorer award in 2000/01 after a 21 goal haul for champions Wollongong Wolves.
Petrovski made his Socceroo debut in August 2001 at Japan's Shizuoka Stadium and was invited to several training camps under former Socceroo boss Guus Hiddink in the lead up to Australia's World Cup qualifying triumph over Uruguay in November 2005.
Last August he netted his first senior international goal when the Socceroos made their first appearance after the 2006 FIFA World Cup at Aussie Stadium in an Asian Cup qualifier against Kuwait.

There are very few players in the world whom I wish actual pain, anguish, and more pain upon on the football pitch. This man is one of them. My hatred shall wait to be unleashed on derby day. I'll be praying that the lord sends his disciple To smite thee. And once thee are smitten, I will laugh. Lots.

Time will, indeed, tell about this one. I'm quietly confident it will turn out to be a good signing, though. We all know the team needs a reliable goalscorer and Petrovski does have a decent track record. Provided the team work on their crossing over the close season, all the good build-up work might actually start producing something next term.
The season's not even finished yet, and we've already hooked up Wilko & Jedinak, as well as a new striker.
Lawrie's not letting us down.........

This is a great signing I reckon, I've been an admirer of this guy for easily a decade.
He knows how to score goals for sure, he's a good finisher, a poacher, good in the air and can hold the ball up, but he brings a lot more than that imo because he also knows how to beat players and set stuff up too. He often drifts wide and skips past defenders with ease and makes a b-line for the box from all over the park.
Expect Saso to set up just as many goals as he scores, probably more. He's a fairly handy tackler for a forward too when he's in the mood and will suit a team that likes to pressure high up the park.
If Lawrie fires him up and keeps him in the mood I reckon we're all gonna become very fond of the bloke.

Two year contract. Still only 31
Spoke to some people who were at the press conference yesterday and going on from Eggy said Saso was a personable, accomodating individual.
I think he will fit into our "no dickhead policy".
Saso and his family stayed in Terrigal on the weekend and they love the place already.
I think this will be a huge signing.
