I think the only thing making people consider the thought of Ceccoli in the yellow and navy was that he was moving from the bling and his mate Saso had just signed with us ... unless everyone knew something that I didn't :S
Now I'm starting to wish we got Matt Thompson.

I'm torn between hoping he picks up a decent gig over there and carries on the dream, and hoping he fails miserably and comes back here, but that's my shamelessly selfish side talking. With those like Meggsi and in future Danny and Wilko, I hope for them to go overseas and because a)they can go a long way and that's great to see and b) it benefits the socceroos. With Heff, he was never really gonna crack the big time. He is blessed with great physical attributes but he doesn't really have the tactical or technical skills to back it up. He launched off the back of a season of being in the right place at the right time that was never going to repeat (see: Noel Spencer) and scored a move to a big club and a massive paycheck. If he stays over there he will just be moving from club to club on the basis of "I played at Nurnberg for a year" and getting similar $ in the meantime. He was never gonna crack the big time, he knows this, but he could get set up for life financially. So for his sake I think that's great and all power to him, but in football terms I'd love to see him back here!

At least here, he will be an instant crowd favourite again and everyone on the coast will know "THE HEFF" or Sonic... but over there, no one will know him. So atleast he has something good over here, and I'd say he could play alot longer ( regarding age) here, as the standard of football here won't require the fitness level Europe would (see: SP)

exactly, lawrie just organised heff a trial in scotland. i think he is more interested in helping out his overseas career than bringing him back to aus.he got him a trial at kilmarnock i think, his old club.

well maybe if heff cant crack it in the SPL he should come back, anything less than the SPL and youd be better off staying in the a-league imo

He will be well supported and will collect a bagfull of goals. I spoke to him briefly on Friday, my first impressions are a really nice guy who will fit in with the rest of the team no worries. Jazza you have had lots of behind the scenes dramas at Sydney over the last couple of years, coaches, boardroom and marque players. Until you establish a settled, competent, professional environment you will lose players. It is as simple as that. To then accuse players of disloyalty for leaving a disfunctional environment is unfair to the individual. Put blame at the appropriate place. Your loss is our gain. I hope it is significant for both of us. Anyway to show our friendliness and sporting nature we let you have Spenny in return.

Is Sasho playing tonight?? I say a couple renditions of "We don't hate you, we don't hate you, we don't hate you anymore" are in order. Followed by some delightfully positive songs.

SFC - they must be loving those big 3 year contracts as they watch their playing talent walk out the door.
Still, Spencer makes up for it eh :-)

Until you establish a settled, competent, professional environment you will lose players. It is as simple as that. To then accuse players of disloyalty for leaving a disfunctional environment is unfair to the individual. Your knowledge of the situation is next-to-none. Sasho's a c**t of a human being who stabbed his coach in the back repeatedly last year for simply not getting game time due to an inflated ego (strange on the back of next-to-no workrate). No matter what you think of the coach in question - that's unacceptable. It wasn't a case of losing Sasho - it was a case of him not being offered a new deal - at all. That said, it's a strange situation. We are better off with the six figure salary to spend in other positions, Sasho is in need of a six-figure salary and you are in need of exactly what Sasho is - a lazy poacher. It's a win-win-win situation for all three parties. Anyway to show our friendliness and sporting nature we let you have Spenny in return. Look for him playing for Wollongong in next year's NSWPL

Trouble is, you dont have the actual $$ to use do you?? SFC couldnt even hang on to "Go top Urself".
The HAL will improve in quality again for V3 and if the poor people down the F3 cant scrape together some $$ quickly, expect to see Spencer as your midfield lynchpin.
