Doesn't really help our cause when 'key people' get thrown out for throwing beer.

It would be nice to have the area roped off and you could ony get in if you were wearing yellow... just to get rid of the emos....

Maybe if you want to keep out the EMO's and keep the whole area yellow then maybe if a couple of Marinator members each took up positions at each end of the rows wanted to be preserved. Then if anyone who is not wearing yellow wont be able to push past the marinator members so they will move else where.
Maybe with the new found friendship of Peter Turnbull who quite obviously has a liking for the Marinators then he may be able to bring the request of the Marinator yellow only area to the Mariners Board.

No, wouldn't have, unfortunately there was a warning after a goal-related beer shower, then Jesus threw an EMPTY cup and was turfed. Bad luck. A separate thread should really have been made for the Bay aspect of the game, because this has taken away from one of our best performances ever! Boy is it exciting to be a Mariners fan right now. Everyone played brilliantly, everything is coming together. I didn't think we'd have it so easy without Wilko in there...has he been holding us back all this time? As for the bay, a number of issues. The come-down after the highs of the week before, the easy goals and not as much need to motivate the troops, the much-spoken about 'emo' factor, they were all factors. Reserved seating is interesting but not an option short term and we need to find a way around this. Getting in early, strategically placing 'leader' types both at the front and in the middle of the bay to lead the main group at the back, and continuing our education of everyone in the bay, possibly through the development of 'code of conduct' or 'supporter values' to be handed out or posted at the top of the bay. Let's reignite this when we have a home game coming up - at the moment it's miles away!

Maybe the solution is to include the emo's find a chant that they can relate to:
eg to Here we Go.
Yellow Army, lost my girlfriend when she died Yellow Army, cut myself with a knife Yellow Army, self pity is where I wallow I'm Yellow Army. I'm Emo

For those disappointed with the 9000 crowd let me show you the following stats:
Version One first two games: 5917 v Jets 5261 v NZ
Version Two first two games: 4644 v Roar 8439 v Jets
9000+ is an excellent crowd and a good start to beat our 10000 average from last season.
Onwards and upwards.
We have received a fair amount of flack from Sydney supporters about the crowd so let's look at their stats:
Version One first two games:
25208 v Victory (gates were opened so there were reports of 30000) 15614 v Mariners
Version Two first two games: 19274 v Mariners 15488 v Newcastle
Version Three first two games: 18457 v Mariners 14233 v Adelaide
As you can see we have had a steady increase int he number of crowds yet Sydney have had a decrease.
I cannot post this on the Sydney forum because of internet restrictions at work but "people in glass houses".

They got less than double what we did. Sounds like more except their population is 13.6 times ours. Sydney would need 123,000 to beat our 9,052 as a per capita figure !!!

Sydney were also playing a grudge match against adelaide. I thought it was an awful crowd considering.
If we got the weekends crowd against the jest or bling i might be concerned, but was happy with it first up.
Got to love being 4 points clear

Its plain to anyone that the marinators are amongst the most passionate of the mariners supporters. You dont sit in bay 16 for a 'quiet evening at the football,' or whatever you want to call it. People should realize theres a chance something like that might happen in a moment of utter joy, or anger...

I was sitting in Bay 47 with my Dad and had a great view of the Bay and it's chanting.
Seeing it for a change from that height, i think the bay would look more yellow and full, particularly on t.v if we started filling the bay from front to back, not back to front. I also think it would also then look less empty and the "cool kids" and the emo's can go at the back of the bay.
Chant wise, some were louder than others.

One of the key performance indicators of the Marinators Club strategic plan is the successful education of those in the bay area of what is expected behaviour for this area.
Look out for some initiatives that will hopefully improve the situation.
In the meantime if you have any constructive ideas email them to our Club Captain Brett clubcaptain@marinators.net

Ah, they warned about a beer shower previous to that. That explains things clearer. I thought it odd to be given the warning 2 seconds after i did it, and 2 seconds before i was turfed.
Need to find myself further to the back to hear these things

sort of of topic but an issue in the bay that i found last week for the wellington match. i was down about midway in the bay, tried to move down to help louden the front section however i couldnt hear hardly of the chants from the back, found it hard to accompany with the drums as there was like 4 chants going at the same time from all over the place. theres just too few of us to coordinate the whole bay i feel any thoughts on this?

Bay 16 has little light up to back too, so the yellow isnt as noticeable. maybe if you were up the front it'd stand out a bit more...?

They filled the bay front the front and its something i think we should try to do to.
