competition strengthens the squad not diminishes it so i cannot see how another signing would be bad for the team Yes, and im sure Tommy would be happy spending the whole year on the bench Would you be??? no, i would be busting my butt trying to get a starting berth and working harder to prove lawrie wrong it is great that we can have the calibre of owens and tommy on the bench and raise the bar of the squad saying that we shouldn't sign elrich because it might piss tommy off does not wash with me heck, let's not re-sign tommy because it might piss porter off or not re-sign porter because it might piss mcandrew off i'm happy to join the squad on that basis - sitting on the bench won't piss me off

I never thoughts much of elrich. Personally i do not think he will bring much, and would prefer the cash spent on an attacking right back.

other than to make the other people who can play that position pissed off that they have to compete with a guy thats played f*** all the last 2 years? lawrie will only play a player on merit not reputation so if he plays then it would be because he is a better player competition strengthens the squad not diminishes it so i cannot see how another signing would be bad for the team How did Spencer get a start last year then? Merit or reputation?

lawrie will only play a player on merit not reputation so if he plays then it would be because he is a better player How did HUTCH retain his place last season then? I suspect it was more on reputation than merit.

I suspect it was more on reputation than merit. last season for many games hutch played off the bench so he like everyone else only gets a start if they are in form

Merit or reputation? Injury plague! But to his credit, Spencer took to the field even though he was reported as having problems with tendinitis in one of his knees himself.

Hutch came back from injury early last season and was quite poor for many games.

I too have never thought much of Elrich, but then I wasnt that keen on Petrovski either, but if they put on the yellow, I will back them 100%

I don't think Bear wouldn't back Elrich if he pulled on the Yellow and Blue just saying he doesn't see a great deal of point.
I don't see much point but hey if it's a free transfer and he's prepared to work it mightn't be a bad move could be a great signing if he works out, he's never been great but there's been times when he's produced something pretty special. We have the space, Elrich would be looking to prove a point, I'm fine if we do or if we don't sign him, I'd hate some other team to snap him up and he be a gun for them though!

SMH Extract Socceroos winger Ahmad Elrich has been released early from his contract with English Premier League side Fulham.
In a statement posted on Fulham's website about its latest transfer deals, the club revealed that Elrich had been let go.
The 26-year-old signed a three-year contract with Fulham in 2005 but only appeared in six league games.
He missed all of last year's season due to a serious knee injury.
Reports in the Daily Express newspaper suggested Elrich plans to return to Australia and join A-League side the Central Coast Mariners.
This was also on Tripple M morning news.
