Hahahaha, informally _left_ don't you mean??? Just read through the Sydney forum - it seems that 90% of the Cove is going to that stupid Daft Punk concert...... guess we'll get all the tourists in the area to sit in the away bays. Maybe give them some blue merchandise so it looks like Sydney has _some_ committed fans. Daft Punk?? Come on, a gig by some crappy Eurotrash "band" (dance music is not music) over a massive game like this?? Just bring your iPods to the game and listen to their albums, but turned up a bit - it's the same as being there anyway....... Having said that, they'll be 10 or so points out of the four by then, so it won't matter on the grand scale of things, we'll just be confirming their exit from the finals.

Telegraph has a rather enfuriating article about the ground, confirming that the damage to the "state of the art drainage system" was done by the motocross back in '04. The promoters of the Supercross Masters were charged $80,000 to repair the surface only, and have been barred from returning. Major drainage repairs and upgrades are scheduled for March, but (get this for stupidity): the Crusty Demons have booked the stadium for May. The mind boggles... can't find it online or in the paper (sydney edition) but will take your word for it. there may be ways they can prevent the same drainage issues arising, the problem also probably wouldn't have come to a head had it not been for the ridiculous (120mm in 6 hours) amount of rain that hit. just a thought - i know they collect water from the rooves at the stadium in tanks, do you think they do (or did... when it worked) the same with run-through from the turf? Let's not blame the excessive rain that we had 120mm and growing by the post. Most of the really heavy rain was over by 2pm, plenty of time for a state of the art drainage system to do its job. Look at the massive storms they have in Brisbane yet cricket is played on the Gabba 45 min later. If we just blame the large amount of rain everyone just throws up their hands and does nothing about it. If the game was tonight it would no doubt be off again or played on a ground with surface water. If we are playing in a National Competition and maybe International the problem has to be fixed now. Imagine 1000+ Urawa fans flying in only to have the game postponed.

Rest assured that I bought them only after first checking the A-League draw to avoid a clash. Now that some unfortunate weather - which we couldn't help - has changed things, I am absolutely spewing. The going price of $280 on ebay is beginning to look more and more attractive, especially compared to the prospect of having to give first aid to some schoolgirl overdosing on ecstacy (as much as that's some peoples' idea of a great night out) ;D

from the mariners website article about re-schedulefor those wanting refunds it gives details in the article. basically needs to be done before close of buisness monday 10th december. Thanx for that Dru. Does the Ticketek outlet at the CCLC entrance count as a 'Box Office' or 'Agency''? Anyone know? I'm hoping it's a 'Box OFfice' 'cause I'm buggered if I'll drive allt he way to Gosford from 'Injun country' to claim a $16 refund.

Let's not blame the excessive rain that we had 120mm and growing by the post. [snip] If we just blame the large amount of rain everyone just throws up their hands and does nothing about it. it was in the tele, i haven't checked the BOM myself but i'm happy to run with the number. football matches are occasionally called off you know. we know the drainage system is rooted, we know it's getting fixed, we know that for some reason the crusty demon peeps are doing a show again (and presumably there's some sort of protective measures to be taken this time), but the apparent need to find a person to blame rather than putting it down to really extreme circumstances is a bit strange to me. obviously it's not up to scratch, but there's a plan in place to fix it after the season. of course, they could tear up the pitch now and we could be f***ed for the rest of the year, but i reckon people would prefer that we wait til march.

Couldn't find it online either. It was in the sport section (not football fever). p60: "Blame Bikes for Washout." My paper was a Coast edition, but I don't think that section is exclusive.

some people like different things and have different and competing interests. i can perfectly understand missing a game because you've booked in for something else - a radiohead gig would have me missing a mariners game for sure, and i don't think i'm any less a fan for doing so.
on that note, is there some sort of superfan ranking system that was put in place while i wasn't looking?

If your referring to what I said to perm, then there is no need to be a smartass. I never suggested I was a bigger fan or "superfan" that him because I would put the team before my job, I was just stating, I think quite clearly, that I didnt understand how a concert could be more important.

Anyway geting back to the matter of the drainage of the stadium, I thought it was funny the stadium management blamed the motorcross for the damage which was some 2 or 3 years ago , then they said the motorcross will never be on there again,so I read through the paper and the Krusty f***n Demons are on there in March which is fine as well be Champions by then and it gets better the Brmbies play there in Feb which from memory is when the finals will be WTF is going on.I understand it is a multi use venue but surely we have credibility now to say to other bookings " we are sorry but the ground needs to be in top condition as the Mariners are hosting a Semi Final on there in 2 weeks.

Did anyone else read that Heff's brothers wedding is on the 22nd? Apparently it was planned when he was in Germany. Apparently he's still going to attend the ceremony, shoot off to the match and return to the reception around 11pm to deliver his best man's speech. It also says his sister suggested a helicopter so he can get back earlier, but it costs $1200 or something, he said no way. So now Heff said he might have to ask Singo for his helicopter. Now there's a fund raising opportunity....Helicopter Ride for Heff
