Anyway......round 15 was a wash out move on............we are about to play IMO the biggest game of the season.
If we win this 1 we go 7 clear from QLD with a game in hand, and can be pretty certain of a top 2 finish. If we lose and others around us win our lead is cut to 1 from QLD and potentially 2 from Newcastle or Adelaide.
HUGE GAME!
The boys have to be fired up for this game, there is so much riding on it!
QLD have been in great form and were very unlucky last week to go down to the scum, let's hope that dents their confidence a little? We've never lost at Suncorp, I'm sure there will come a time when we do but not this weekend please!
The bad news is Sasho and Hutch will be out due to them not serving their 1 match bans, plus after talking to Boogs, he'll be out as the doctor gave him orders to not train for 2 weeks after suffering concussion against the scum. I have not heard how Tommy is but there's a chance he could be back which would be a massive boost.
I heard that if the game against Sydney went ahead this would have been the line up, different game, different tactics of course but given no Hutch or Sasho still not too much should change, unless Tommy is fit and a natural swap for Kwas can be expected.

I predict another scrappy, boring game with our boys performing well under their capability (as seems to be the trend against Qld) - but our defence will be tighter this time. Aloisi and Simon to score, 2-0
If Tommy plays, then 3-0 - Aloisi to score a double.

Thankk god we've moved on from the postponed thread.
Agree with the others, this is the biggest game of the season, although I think we'll say that every week from here on in. Of course we want to win and I hate to say this, but the most important thing is to avoid defeat.
Roar (I hate that name) have had a very good run up to their game against scum, so they were due a loss. There a good side when their on, but bloody hell, when they are not at their best they are awful. The thing is they are very up and down. They'll do well to finish in the four.
I don't believe they'll finish top two because they have no goal scorers they can rely on to put them away. If we play bad we'll draw and if we play well we'll win.
With our extremely strong backline and with Jedi back they won't score. We will score if we improve our service to the front two boys. Johnny A must be a very frustrated young man at the moment with the service he has received in recent games. Tommy makes all the difference here. Gee I hope he is back this week!
To state the obvious, he is so important to our attacking moves from midfield and creates so much. Would also love to see Owens step up a gear. He's been nowhere near his best due to injuries but he's had enough game time now.
To me, Tommy and Owens are the key to us winning this game and for that matter finishing first past the post. Without them playing well we lose the link between the midfield and the front two.
We'll win 2-0 in front of 18,697.

We can't play Porter against Zullo. He doesn't have the experience to compensate for the fact that Zullo is just too quick for him. Until he got sent off in the last game against Qld I was constantly worried about his defence against a much faster opponent. After he went off Owens dropped back and did a much better job. I suspect Clarky would too.

Zullo and Kruse have carved most defenses they have met so it will be a stiff challenge for our boys. I agree with you Pjennings in that Zullo has a phenominal turn of speed and will have to marked very tightly,is Smitta the man? I think he can do the job. Owens IMO is the key for us assuming Tommy is out, when he gets involved he looks so comfortable directing , we just need him to be involved the entire game. Im hoping Kwas gets back to his early season form when he was down the left.

Yep Zullo's sidelined His absence also helps hamstring kruse from what I can see - as evident in their game against scum. Without Zullo's pace stretching the oppositions defence, Roars attack became duck rectum tight and Kruse - while still possessing Roars best touch last week in my opinion - was unable to find the room for his larger sweeping runs into the box and had to play much tighter and to his credit worked desperately to try to get in behind scums backline and North's enormous Racoon style eye bags instead. What's with those damn eye sacs!? Clearly captaining scum means a man can't sleep at night! Makes perfect sense... except that I thought North wasn't actually human? but rather some kind of demonic changeling summoned from the pits of hell in some bizarre Novacastrian animal buggering ritual. Boy did that ritual go wrong when Jardell popped up inside Van Egmonds little chalk pentagram ) So... it'd be my guess that when Farina says they'll be looking to play "attacking football" he means will be looking to free up kruse a lot more... though hopefully he's just planning on wasting time on his overly pouty Brazilian's instead For my final fiddy cents, I agree with the earlier comments about Roars hot and very cold nature - and IMHO the key to this with Roar is Moore. Their confidence and play style really does seem to mirror the man, when his games been off - or even more so when he's just plain off - they immediately seem to visibly contract. But that said - in this instance I sincerely don't think it's going to matter what they do, Roars forwards will have to play out of their pompous Brazilian skins to give them a chance at anything better than a draw, because our phenomenal defensive line is going to completely shut down their attack, and despite comings or goings - our midfield has been strong to dominant in nearly every game, and that coupled with three more weeks of gel time since Matty Simon and Johhny Aloisi first wove for us that all inspiring sense of just how fantastic their partnership could just be... I think we are going to be simply unbloodystoppable!!! Another scrappy boring game sandman? I THINK NOT! So saddle up, fire up, or shut up... Because I think we are about to see the best of performance of the year from our dearly beloved YELLOWWWWWW ARRRRMMMMMYYYYYY!!!!!!!

Anyway, I've been wondering why Lawrie has been playing Heff at leftback and Brownie in midfield, given how many goals we got from Deano in V1. Just seems strange to me, so was wondering if you'd spoken to Lawrie about this???

Through no connection but through pure observation m_b, Heff scored those goals from left back!
In defence his pace helps in cover and in attack he can pop up unmarked coming from very deep with those trademark runs.
Browny whips in a good cross on a more consistent basis than anyone in the team and it's good to have that on the wing. His time at LB in V2 was great for his already-decent defensive abilities and now when he drops back to cover Heff we don't lose anything at the back. I think that's why they've been a great left side combo since pre-season cup V1.

Heff's brain explosions makes him a dangerous player to defend in the box though I'd also like to see Heff given a more dedicated attacking role, even just for half a match, just to see what happens.

Yes, because at this crucial time of the year, when we are only top by a small margin, we can really afford to throw our best left back into an attacking role "just to see what happens" Seriously dude

Brett hit the nail on the head with Heff, his pace and defensive work is fantastic, close to best in the A-League if not the best. Personally I feel his crossing is poor and could be a hell of a lot better.

Browny may not be the best option for this game, with the 2 gorillas QLD have in defence I'm not convinced that good crosses will win us this game. Moore and Ogenovski will beat Aloisi and Simon in the air 95% of the time, we need good passing and plenty of movement to create gaps IMO.
