Browny may not be the best option for this game, with the 2 gorillas QLD have in defence I'm not convinced that good crosses will win us this game. Moore and Ogenovski will beat Aloisi and Simon in the air 95% of the time, we need good passing and plenty of movement to create gaps IMO. If Tommy and Boogs are still out, might be worth trying something a little different. -----------------vukovic------------------ clark wilkinson vidmar heffernan ------------------jedi---------------------- porter-------kwasnik----------hutch ------------aloisi-------matty------------ Porter, Kwas and Hutch should be rotating about and generally trying to create options. All of them can get to the flanks, all of them can put a pass through. You might have it set up so one of them is looking to play defensively at any given moment while the other two are looking to run to the line, a bit like a 4-2-2-2 with changing personnel and with Jedi the mainstay in the middle. Porter and Hutch are known quantities and will do well, but I’d really like to see how Kwas goes. He’s been a little off over the last few weeks, but he seems to step up when he is under pressure but is not the only person to carry the load. If he's backed in he'll do well. If the three of them can rotate through advanced positions Kwas in particular may just have that little something that breaks a game open for us. We know he's capable of a bit of magic, I’d like to see him put in to see where it might be most dangerous. More generally though, wouldn't mind seeing us control a bit of possession this week! Too often we’re not comfortable hanging on to the ball for a while and looking to play through. The most frustrating thing is when the team *does* hang on to the ball for a series of passes, is looking comfortable enough, but then gets pressed to a wing where the ball is popped back to the keeper. We’re fine up to there, but the next bit is where Danny (or more particularly Trotty when he’s been in) launches it to a contest up the ground. ARGHK! Where’s the wide man from the other side looking to create a safe option to start again? We’re not patient enough, and we give away possession super cheaply. If we could work on this one thing, we’d be winning a huge psychological advantage because if you’re on the other side and you look at periods of minutes at a time where all you’re doing is chasing the ball, you begin to feel like the opposition is a little bit invincible. It’s simple stuff, the players are more than capable, it’s just a planning and decision-making thing.

dang, so he is... -----------------vukovic------------------ clark wilkinson vidmar heffernan ------------------jedi---------------------- porter-------kwasnik----------brown ------------aloisi-------matty------------ i take dj's point above, but brown and porter are two of our better crossers of the ball and simon's the sort of bustling pain in the arse striker that defenders hate going in the air against. could be a very interesting match (even leaving aside the bit about the top of the table clash, could be a big step towards sealing the premiership etc...) !

My man love for Tommy is based purely on his footballing talent....... although I must say that those flowing Balkan locks from Season 1 did do it for me.

id like to see Kwas and Owens getting out wide and stretching qld's defence to give aloisi and matty better service than theyve been getting lately... Kwas was on fire early in the season but he seems to have gone completely off the boil probably to do with his injury, hopefully he has a blinder

. cocky because brownie pointed out their woeful home record ?
. obviously open and honest comment is such a foreign concept in qld that this has been misconstrued as cockiness
. classic from tiatto in that article about how lucky we are to be at the top "any team could be up there if they put the goals in"
. perhaps that should read 'anybody if they could put goals in against the best defence in the league - but they can't'

Gee, this thread is quiet for 1 v 2.
Roar play a a pressing game high up the pitch to strangle possession and force the turnover.
We need to have our best passing game and amintain possession, knock the ball around and wait for them to lose patience and fly in with their tackles or leave on of our players unmarked and free. If we do this I think we'll win. One goal will be enough because their strikers are pathetic.
I have nothing to base this on, but I don't think Tommy will play. Kwas and Owens are the key. If those guys are on we'll be fine.
I still think we'll win 2-0.
