if someone's a short term replacement i assume their contract ends when the injured player recovers? do they receive the same match payments? and what happens if they are playing unbelievably well and better than the injured player was - could the club falsify the injury keeping the replacement player on a bit longer??. i know that this would be totally unrealistic and not likely but you never know They could do what Perth did and sack a shit player, but we don't have any shit players.

Didn't see it, what did the report exactly say? I'd had a few beers, but they did say that they were close to signing McMaster and they were unsure about the other bloke. I'm prety sure that the other guy was a midfielder and McMaster a forward. They were both seen training with the team at Mingara.

I saw on NBN Sports report last night that the Mariners were close to signing Jim/James McMcaster (Unsure of the first name) who is a local and has come back from Leeds Utd and another o/s player who wouldn't look out of place playing 2nd row for any Rugby League team.
Does anyone know anything about these 2 ??

The council, possibly the FFA and the Mariners should come together and have a massive fireworks display at the Gosford waterfront after the game. Build this match into a yearly event at Gosford and publicise it as a FAMILY night. The band is also a great idea. I'd love to see the screaming jets belt out tunes in the middle of the ground for an hour or so !

I know Fergie was a great player in his hey day, but Leo must have been pissed to see Fergie get a run on saturday ahead of him. I watched NBN sports report last night, and I'm pretty sure Lawrie said that Fergie WOULD start the match this week against Melbourne.
Has the world gone topsy turvy ?

Does anyone know why Leo can't get onto the pitch ? The only time we see him is before the game and at halftime when he takes shots at goal.
From the limited opportunities I have seen him, he has talent coming out of his ears and would be great in midfield with Andre.

As I mentioned in a previous thread, I believe it is the way the bench is being used. You can't make replacement at the 80th minute and expect a player to score 2 goals. They have to be bought on around the 60th-70th minute to make some type of impact.

I don't think anyone underestimates Lawrie's coaching ability. He has done a great job with the team so far. However, I don't think it is beneficial to a side to be making changes with 10 minutes to go. I would love to see the fringe players get more time on the pitch because we are going to have to rely on them if we get more injuries and the only place to get match fit is on the pitch.

In my opinion, I feel that we aren't getting the most out of our bench. I believe that Lawrie should be making the replacements earlier than the 80th or 85th minute. The replacements need time to get themselves into the match rather than coming on for approx 10 minutes and trying to make an impact. I have seen Leo Carle very little during the year, but what I have seen has been quite good. I also know that we are a fit side and the majority of players can play for the full 90 minutes. But I feel that changes should be made earlier during the game.
As I said, this is just my opinion, don't shoot me down.
What does everyone else think ?

Mariners fans, I cant control what you all say, but if I have some influence I'd like to make a SUGGESTION that in future when immature little trolls like this show up on our forum we IGNORE them. You can prove them wrong, prove them to be fools, knock them down as many times as you like, but you just cant beat them. Why waste your time? The only way to make them go away for sure is not giving them any more fuel. Just a thought. Well said, and remember: Never argue with an idiot, as they will bring you down to there level and beat you on experience.

Unfortunately I voted Other. I'm driving to Port Macquarie on Friday night and I'm hoping to catch the last 10-15 minutes of the game when I get there. I'll have to ring the old man for score updates along the way. Does anyone know of radio stations, apart from the great 96.3, that will broadcast the match on my way up the coast ?

Maybe we should have people start filling up from the front. That way when people sit behind them, they have no choice but to stand up or move.

Coming from a Rugby League backgrouund, the best thing about being at the game is the atmosphere. The noise we make in Bay 16 is unbelievable, and it doesn't just happen when we score, IT'S ALL GAME !! Craig 29.

I am also a believer that once the local league, union, football and any other code that is being played at the moment is finished, the crowds will come. Do you think they will double thou? I do think that they will draw quite a few big crowds during the season. You have to think about it though. This is a new competition based on the Coast which follows different sports. Once the Mariners start winning the crowds WILL go and watch them play. I'm already predicting a sell out for the new years eve match against Newcastle.
